I agree Tyrannosaurus, remember Ridley did say that small things will equal big things.

totally... speculation is why we are here, but i really think we should ALL try to keep a few things as mysteries until we SEE the film, which Ridley Scott wants

ALIENS has nothing to do with this film, I think it would be wise to stop trying to clarify things you are seeing in Prometheus with things from ALIENS. There is no Queen in this film, there is No Hudson in this film and there is no Cameron anywhere. The urns look like they are housing the bio engineered casing and hugger. Yes. the things in Alien only looked like eggs, it doesn't mean they were eggs. Think about it. Even the outer part was alive. The hugger didn't slightly open the pouch and then take a drink of whiskey waiting for the right time to jump out. The pouch sensed something nearby and opened giving whats inside a clear opening to attack. Which leads me to believe it is organic and alive.

i STRONGLY suggest watching the original Alien, with commentary on by Ridley Scott - it's quite enlightening.... also, go over the production sketches and photos and etc.... again, very enlightening

Kane77Prometheus ForumRidley Scotts idea of the Ancient Astronaut Theory
´´must have been ufos´´ see, thats the prob. , supercomputers, atomic bombs, biotech etc are all proveable human made. when coming to ancient giant building sites like the pyramids, which are the main ´argument´ for AAT´s , they say, ´we didnt build them, must have been that aliens´. - wrong, egyptians build them, the porpose and exact technices are still there for reasonable archeology. AAT is kind of Sci-Fi based superstition, they are not interested in archeology at all, just in speculation. - UFO´s is completeley unproven, its just an excuse. ( maybe ufos cant build anything. Ufos are no argument whatsoever) Of course, the main idea of Stargate was nice, more interesting than the Star Treck universe ;) anyone who is interested in the great pyramid, this made my year 2011, reading about the great pyramid beeing a giantic water pump, great: http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/piramides/esp_piramide_11a.htm But I´m sure Sir Scott will make a nice piece, a master piece again.

Maybe the space jockeys are the slaves, and the gods are something we haven't seen yet (whoever's in the giant disk-shaped thing in the waterfall scene? The giant head / idol/whatever it is?) The clean symmetrical disk shape over the watefall and the totally asymmetrical shape of the derelicts are at totally opposite ends of the spectrum, doesn't seem like the same technology was used to build both.

Maybe the Gods seeds the planets, humans evolved to serve Gods, humans become self-aware and difficult to manage. So the Gods say: "Ah, fuck it, I'm going home!"

@Theresprom here is a picture Frantz posted a while back: It's definitely Pierce in the first shot! Also: this thread is worth a look when putting names to faces: Who Am I (By @Biomechanic) AND...after a second viewing of the trailer, I think those lasers are scanners. I think the humans are mapping the layout of the tunnels. And I think the Ridley refers to the Alien DNA/pre-facehugger when he talks about evisceration.

Andrew RyanPrometheus ForumGuy Pearce only in Prometheus "for a minute"
I don't think that the red laser is from the human crew. It is originating from the ceiling. Plus Guy Pierce (or whoever it is) is looking up at the source of the light as though he is surprised. My interpretation is that the crew is exploring and sets off some sort of alarm and defense mechanism, resulting in acid-helmet dude. Could the same defense mechanism have taken out the dead jockey on the floor in the ampule room seen in the promo pics? Hmmm . . . .

@Tyrannosaurus, The guy in the top picture between Rapace and Scott is Guy Pearce, I'm fairly certain. However, you may be right that the one in the lower picture is Rafe Spall.

I would say there is pretty good cause to think it may not be Guy. Looks like it could be either one to me. Very similar mouth, nose and chin features. Although the upper lip portion looks more like Spalls. The curve is more straight where-as Guys is more pronounced.

and then there is always the TOOL who tries to act tough behind a keyboard, like Mentos.... do you think that is intimidating or makes you sound intelligent to INSULT me? i didn't attack anyone, i simply stated that the dude in the GLASSES is NOT Guy Pearce. try looking at a photo of him or watching one of his movies, it's NOT him in the glasses. it is RAFE SPALL. oh and to the D-Bag, Mentos - no i am not blind or mentally impaired and i really wish i was as cool and intimidating as you

@MindBender, I guess time will tell who that might be. @Tyrannosaurus, I'm guessing Mentos' reaction is to a couple things you typed, namely, "wow....seriously" and "END OF TOPIC". It's possible that response could be construed as to coming from someone who thinks they know it all. But that's just a guess.

Tyrannosaurus, I believe you might be coming across a bit arrogant in this also. Stating things like they are facts and following it up with things like "wow, seriously," is only going to give people the idea you are getting upset. The last thing we need is forum police but if you want people to take your views seriously, you need to present them in a way that is not off putting.

its as simple as looking at Rafe Spall's photo or movies and Guy Pearce's photos or movies... if Mentos was offended by me saying "wow, seriously" - then i would call that hypersensetive... also, he is the JERK that hides behind a keyboard and CALLS ME BLIND AND MENTALLY IMPAIRED - yeah that's def not as bad as me saying, "wow, end of topic" we are ALL Alien geeks / fans and i have NO intention of starting behind-a-computer-screen-fight with anyone. i come on here to SEE EVERYONE'S opinion... this discussion about GLASSES MAN being Guy Pearce is worn-out.... it's Rafe Spall wearing the glasses. apologies to anyone offended by "wow, seriously"

Tyrannosaurus, My first impression of you is that you came here to belittle the opinion of others not to "SEE EVERYONE'S opinion...". If you thought the subject was worn out why did you even comment? I think you need to grow up a bit and show some respect to the other members.

@Membrane and @MindBender hit the nail on the head pretty much, your post was at best irritating. If you think the guy in glasses is Ralf Spall then post some bloody evidence, don't harp on like an eleven year old. This forum revolves around constructed debates, and interesting ideas. Each one of your posts should bring something new to the table, not attempt to end a discussion. I admit my post was a little hard edged and for that apologise, I was just irritated by your comments. And for you information, I'm not trying to act tough; how would I benefit from it? Furthermore don't call me out on a single spelling mistake when your grammar and punctuation is on the whole less than sub-par. [Also @Mindbender, would you mind re-posting your pic? For some reason it seems to be unavailable/blocked.

yes jonesy, personally i want to do away with cinemas all together the cons out weigh the pros for me sore ass cos of bad seating, bad calibrated picture / focus on many occasions for me people who have seen the movie already letting everyone know the plot details and spoilers. people stuffing their faces and making way to much noise , cant pause for a piss , being sat in front of some 6.9 guy with an afro and cant see a thing, horrible people with no consideration, I think all film releases due out should have the dvd/ blu rays released at the same time so those that want the collective conscience experience can have it and those like me can sit at home watch a perfect picture in comfort, and roll a jay and have an altogether far more civilized experience.

This will be NOTHING like Avatar, that film looked brilliant but overally as a film it was terrible/cheesy and predictable. Prometheus will be to Avatar as Fire is to Water, the total opposite in every way possible!

@lyle southern England is a fair size lyle are you south east, west, or somewhere in the middle cos i'm south east Brighton to be accurate and the cinemas are not digital mate all my friends and the circle of people i know travel if we want to go see a decent film yes we got loads of cinemas but in our experience they are never calibrated for a half decent picture i can get better on my widescreen tv i think the cinema needs an industry wide makeover especially here in the uk maybe the usa has better facilities but the uk is crap in general with only a handful of decent digital cinemas in the country and a couple of places to see imax but you got to travel some way if your from my part of the country.

Yes, it should be on the site link there somewhere to watch again. Either that or your 'on demand' TV listings - on Virgin it may be under 'catch up' tv.

I most definitely read somewhere last year that he'd booked those sound stages at Pinewood Studios for two years. How true that is I don't know. I think he may have another film in the works, but like some of you say here, that depends on how 'Prometheus' fares I assume.

@Engineerprototype - I think you're spot on there! Prometheus being a prequel to the subsequent next movie, with that one being the DIRECT prequel to Alien. Good thinking! Also, clever Ridley Scott if that is the case.

SoX2000Prometheus Forum2nd Prequel
I'm wondering if when Ridley said "We're trying to squeeze in 2 prequels" he meant "We're trying to squeeze 2 prequel stories/story lines into 1 film". At first I read it as yeah they're trying to make two prequel films, but now I'm not so sure if he means they've squeezed 2 stories for prequels into one film. I think after Prometheus there's not much left to say and if it does happen that they really rinse the story dry on screen in the second film it would spoil any (if there is any) mystery left over after Prometheus.

Come on guys no mention of Predator?? That is a fantastic movie! I'm not a huge Treky but there were a couple decent flicks. They are a totally different genre than most mentioned films. The Black Hole was pretty good, and the evil red robot gave me some bad dreams. I guess that might have been late 70's 2010 (why aren't we orbiting Jupitor yet?) The Abyss - I don't get Cameron haters. Cocoon!! Iceman

I love the The Thing, that is my next favorite sci fi horror next to Alien (Aliens). The soundtrack is amazing. Just watched the prequal to The Thing and it was pretty good. Did not expect it to hold up the eighties original. Also noone has mentioned Event Horizon. I thought that was a pretty cool movie.
