We will likely get one more prequel movie to tie it all up, then off in another direction.....hopefully not involving Ripley, or any of her family, or clones.

I believe that it is 100% conspiracy even if we just go by the events presented in the original 1979 Alien film. The only doubt in my mind comes from nobody admitting it, but who's going to do that?

Nice pics. Keep in mind the video stated there were seven models and we only saw one. I have to give points to the original since design and available materials were likely more limited back then.
I don't know. Wet or dry, the crafsmanship on the original was all kinds of awesome. maybe I'm just too used to looking at it and everything else looks wrong.
Firstly, you talk about how solar flares and CME’s from our Sun aren’t very powerful, but you are ignoring the whole universe. I thought I made it clear in my summary above that solar flares (and naturally CME’s) are can be much, much, much, much, much, much, etc., etc. more powerful than our Sun. This has been even proven by unexpected findings in our universe where scientist only know of those super powerful solar flares because of chance accident. Don’t limit your research to what our Sun can do because the universe is huge and there are multiple kinds stars which people are still learning about. After reading what you have written, I think you already know this?
The reason neutrino bursts from our Sun haven’t been detected is because neutrino’s are very hard to detect, PERIOD. People have to construction massive neutrino scanning machines in old gold mines just to get a clear reading since the only thing that could penetrate a deep gold mine from space is a neutrino. Actually, I don’t know if neutrino’s from our Sun’s solar flares could hurt a human. I don’t know, but what I do know is that the typical neutrino released from our Sun does not hurt a human on Earth.
When comparing to the size of universe, 1 AU is a very small distance. I am sure the Walter would have noticed that the star that turned supernova (that’s if a star did turn supernova) was getting quite larger than the previous data recorded during the Covenant planning stages. Walter is a computer, so I wouldn’t throw that past him and I woudn’t doubt it if he had to study nearby stars and planets for science and for safety or maybe Mother would do the studying with some futuristic technology.
The gravitational interference was described by Walter as the reason why the neutrino burst was detected so late. The neutrino burst would have been detected sooner and the ship could’ve possibly been prepped for impact as much as possible if the sensors where scanner through space unaffected by gravitational interference.
I do see trying to avoid a supernova as being extra cautious, but I would assume that this mission, if it could, should be taking the safest route to Origae-6. Supernova’s, as of our lives timeframe, are unpredictable, but, and it’s a big but, that might change very soon. I might share this info a little later or you might have heard of it yourself. Supernova’s are a fact of life and I am sure, for the missions sake, the Covenant was planned to take the path of least risk while also considering time. This is a very important mission according to the movie and novel.
With studying neutrino’s and solar flares, I don’t know how much a person could predict a solar flare. Maybe neutrino’s get released right before the flares explosion at a small increase in amounts than get released a whole ton when the explosion happens. I don’t know, but what I do know is that scientists in present times are trying get a reading of neutrino’s with solar flares from our Sun. So, maybe being able to read neutrino’s from a solar flare may do nothing to help increase our sketchy predicting time for solar flares from our Sun. What reading neutrino’s from solar flares does, though, is it gives humans the ability to detect solar flares a different way. So, on the Covenant, nobody has to be watching stars for solar flares because if the ship picks up a neutrino burst, than that means a possible stellar flare occurred. With a quick analysis of where that burst came from, a person (or robot) could then investigate what is going on. This is possible because neutrino’s almost travel at exactly the speed of light. A solar flare and the solar energetic particles (SEP) released from it travels at the most of 80% the speed of light (the fastest of the fastest particles which makes up the SEP do this). So, a computer can see that a solar flare is coming and would give some time to at least prepare after picking up a neutrino burst. Still, like you mentioned what Walter said, “it was a random local event that cannot be predicted.” Yes, solar flares can be predicted up to around 2 days from our Sun, (so in a sense, they are unpredictable), but the solar flares from the stars around the Covenant may not be able to be predicted since there is no reason to watch those stars like we do with our own Sun. So, maybe the Covenant planning team just thought they would rely on neutrino burst detection for back up and took the safest route to avoid solar flares and CME’s (or supernova’s, if that is what actually happened).
David could learn all about the nearby stars probably through libraries on Planet 4. I think any advance civilization would at least keep records of nearby stars for their own safety. It only makes sense.
This is what I think of David’s surprise. He acted just like we saw him lie to the Covenant crew in Alien: Covenant. David is evil and I think most people would agree with that. I don’t understand how anyone could trust David after watching Prometheus, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. After watching Alien: Covenant, every Alien franchise fan should know NOT TO TRUST DAVID FOR ANY REASON. This can even be emphasized by the video that was just released where David is experimenting with Shaw.
The simplest explanation for Alien: Covenant is actually not that simple. Embarrassingly, I can’t remember my thoughts on that (plus this post is getting long and taking a lot more time than I thought it would).
I would put more time in providing examples, but this post is already way longer than I wanted it to be and I am really don’t feel like spending the time. Sorry.
The only way I will give up on my theory is if a space scientist explains it to me that what I purpose is impossible (or someone presents hard data that shows it is impossible) or after I rewatch Alien: Covenant and the reasons for creating this theory of mine turn out to be actually not what I thought they were. That may not be till sometime next week though. I am trying to wait on someone to watch it with me, but it looks like I will be watching it alone. I’m watching next week, regardless!

Thombach Thank you for clarifying. I did notice that the Xeno head and suit looked rather dry as did the 1979 model. In both movies, it can be observed how they are pretty much sprayed to give the wet and shiny look.
I don't mean the design. I mean the detail and paint colors look kind of, meh. Cheap. Giger's alien suit was a work of art.
But I know this stuff was mostly just to have on set, not to actually be used in the movie, so I suppose they did go the extra mile.

The latest issue of Cinefex has a good article of the Covenant effects as well.
It makes you wish they had shown more of the Xeno/Proto to appreciate all the work that went into it's development.
I like the touch of the Neomorph's having vestigial eyes, Ill have to have a close look for them next watch

That is a lot to take in. However, a brief scan shows just how much work, research etc went into what we see. Even studying how a tiger attacks is interesting to watch imagining it from a movie making angle.
Thombach They explained in the video it deliberately looked more biological than mechanical.

Maybe it is just me, but that does not look that great. Kind of low quality compared to the head and suit used in the original.
There is a deleted scene on the Covenant DVD that I think makes sense of Milburn's behavior in this scene. He finds one of the little worms things swimming in the room they take their helmets off in. He holds one and is so excited about finding the first off world life form ever that he is almost peeing his pants. When he sees the hammerpede he is acting the same way. I think he is maybe trying to show off a bit to Fifield too?

I had discussed before where potentially the movie could go, and i can give a broad estimated Synopsis, as i think the potential is for the next movie to end up being something a bit close to ALIENS...
Example Company sends in a Ship that arrives at a Set Up Colony before the colonist discover Davids Dark Secret and so we have a Colony Partially Built where the Colonist are trying to Barricade themselves from Davids Horrors.. Be this be the other group are on the Covenant, or are on Origae-6
The Company arrive to find the Colonist trying to Protect themselves, and in other area of the Colony or a Cave near by David has set up his own little Nursery of Eggs.
And then latter we see the incoming Engineers maybe with Walter.
It would set up a 3rd movie, where the Company and eradicated maybe the Colonist too, or captured by the Engineers and then the Engineers attempt to take Davids Creation away.
18th September before i can order anyway as thats the UK release Date, and so i should be able to scrape £15 by then ;)

Daniels and Jacob had been planning the mission for 10 years and a lot of surveillance work etc had been done on Origae-6 and so i will assume Origae-6 is indeed Origae-6
The good thing in Australia is that it is Father's Day next weekend. Watch the DVD/BR sales go through the roof here :)
I hope they are not just going to use this as a Easter Egg and no more and that it indeed will link with the next movie.

Is David trying to persuade the Company that Paradise is Origae-6 which clearly the Covenant is far from Origae-6 and so the Company would know Planet 4 is not the location of Origae-6
So is David hiding where he was on Planet 4? Is he trying to show these Experiments and Life, as what he discovered on Origae-6.... which in itself must mean this Message is sent after David arrives on Origae-6
There are a lot of things to consider, because we know he is off to Origae-6 and it will take 7.5 years, does David want the company to intercept him before he gets to Origae-6?
Why does David not create and experiment on the Covenant and then take the Ship to the Company...
Nope it all appears David is trying to get the company to arrive at Origae-6, but is David merely going to Turn up at Origae-6 with Tons of Eggs on the Ship?
I will assume David has a Plan to Proceed as Planned and Pretend to be Walter, and help start the set of a Colony before David then sends such messages, or sends them allowing enough time for when the company can possibly arrive.. that David would have a Human Colony set up..
And then he proceeds to unleash his creations.
Darn it..... wish i had a copy... i have to save up to order one, i was hoping to get one this month but to more Serious Financial Outgoings i may have to wait another few weeks or a Month :(

Just thinking in text now, I'm trying to come up with a scenario where David would have been able to swap Origae-6 and Planet 4 either in WY's plans, or somehow made WY think they were headed off to Origae-6 with the Covenant ship, only to be intercepted by David as they passed "near" his planet (Planet 4).
The only thing I'm not sure how to place, is at the end of the movie when David tells MUTHUR to head to Origae-6. Maybe the real Origae-6 is Planet 4, and the real Planet 4 or Engineer homeworld is Origae-6. It would make sense that they would have been able to scan and find a habitable planet, but not be able to detect if there is or was life there already. This is probably not even close to right but I wanted to type it out just in case.
Indeed Sherris... good point regarding the Age Certification, Alien Covenant could have been made more Gory that would require a Age 18 to see it, but this then reduces a potential number of viewers... hence a Cert 15 or equivalent opened up the Movie to the 15-18 year olds..
Its all about trying to cover a larger Market Share, rather than Pleasing the Alien Fanbase.
