I can agree with that in most part. The key for the jockey would be to manage mutliple selves over lightyears. This requires some sort of safe guards be them bio or mech. I don't think the ship is the SJ. I think the ship is a means to an end and that is all. The biological is the goal. Key is bio progression thus ensuring its memories and propogation of its memories and knowledge over a milennia. Key for all life forms is its ability to transcend its physical and move into the ethereal away from its flesh and more to its energy source and thus the never ending soul theory brought about by religion. I'm not debating religion but all forms be it Buddist, Hindi, Christian, or Muslim beleives in the enduring SOUL that transends the phyiscal and lives forever in the form of energy. Why not keep with this being so many people can relate to it? Just my opinion. Regards, Rick

Possible. It's a concept that has been discussed. I like it. It's weird and disturbing. But.... It obviously wasn't perfect. Something went wrong, or is sort of implied. The Engineers are dead....or are they.... Why does it infect planets? Just just to take over? Does this "disease" obsorb and transform an entire planet and all its life and elements into a single living organism? Disturbing. Is this technology the interstellar recycling bin of life? Distubing. I hope R Scott reads this forum because I bet we've thought about this way more than he has. Maybe not lol!

I like your thinking Rick. Your post has sparked a thought, Could the big head be some kind of bio-mechanical hard-drive? Storing all the data/dna for various life forms?

@ ArchEtech, I hope Ridley does lurk on the forums, it might give him ideas to further the franchise is Prometheus does well at the Box office. To think that us as a community could add to franchise is quite exciting. Who knows? In the credits for a future film or even Prometheus itself, we could see in the "Thanks" section "Promethus movie.com community" That would be awesome.

Ha they (Hollywood) tried to screw Geiger out of credits - don't hold your breath. But there are a lot of good ideas, and how cool would it be if he responded to some threads.

RickPrometheus ForumAre humans the "robots" of another being?
AE, Whats more disturbing is our entire human existance is based on chemical and electrical impulses that are interpreted as data by our brain that then needs to relate these impulses to our reality "matrix" that in turn feeds are drive factor analysis thus bringing about motion that makes us do what we do everday. Einstein once said to do the same thing over and over again expecting different results equals insanity. I tend to agree. This is why I mix things up and consider variety the spice of life. On a whole Ruh Level. What if we are all part of a program like the Matrix and we have control of a whole lot of nothing and are mere slaves to the impulses of our brains and thus feed the robots, energy devouring lifeforms or SJ's all the energy they need for EONS. Hmm..... Food for thought. Regards, Rick

ArchEtechPrometheus ForumAre humans the "robots" of another being?
Yes exactly. Robots aren't alive because they are programmed. Its impossible for a computer to be random. It's math. Math, at least how my brain works isn't random. You can simulate randomness but is something programmed truly random acting under its own free will? I'm sure science tries to disagree with me somewhere, In any case, like you say, what if we are programmed? And in a way we are - DNA. how much free will do we have? Stop it I have to sleep.

I work in the AV industry and the dirty little secret is there is no difference between a high end HDMI cable and a average one costing far less.Monster ,gold plated ,oxygen free cables= rubbish to sell HDMI cables at obscene prices.

That is pretty much true Raven, Luckily my gold plated HDMI only cost me £5, i've seen Belkin HDMI cables that go for £50+. I'd say dont pay less than £5 or more than £10 for a decent HDMI cable, the cheap ones you get for a couple of quid really dont last long at all and will most likely fall apart. Could someone please suggest me a decent blu ray player to purchase? I've seen blu ray players going recently for about £80 so I dont really want to pay anymore than that, it must be Divx/Xvid/Avi compatable.

Remember one thing, there's no H.R. Giger in this movie... errors like these are often in prequels or sequels Maybe it's just another space ship

Giger IS involved in Prometheus, so would be very surprising to do such mistakes.

SJ, There are a few possibilities. 1. Different Ships Different Planets a. Answers both questions 2. Same Ship Different Planets a. Lands to Drop Ampules on one b. Crash Lands on other 3. Same Ship Same Planet a. It crash lands and over time structural integrety decays causing changes on surface of ship making it look different 4. Different Ship Same Planet a. First derelict crash lands where found by Nostromo b. Second derelict crashes on opposite side of planet (never found by nostromo) c. Can send signal through or around planetoid causing signal to be recieved and repeated by derelict on opposite side. All just hyposthesis. Regards, Rick

Great stuff very interesing posts. I guess we all have our ideas on what we hope and expect from a film project and no one can please everyone all of the time. In response to the post what did i expect from Avatar well i thought some of it was amazing and some of it poor . My biggest problem was the overall story and of course I'm not the first to express disappointment with the story but it has been done to death from Pocahontas to Dancing with wolves. I must add i'm notoriously fussy and hard to please but sometimes its great on that rare occasion when a film goes above and beyond your expectations.

"Avatar" was quite an experience and I understand why so many felt short changed by it given the "Ferngully" scenerio. However, It had some amazing, absolutely stunning scenes in it.

Agreed spartacus, there are good and bad elements in most films and i want to point out i didn't hate Alien 3 i just was not that enamoured with it. Your right though Spartacus, the Directors cut is far superior. It also helps a film if you can have sympathy with some of the characters and in Alien 3 that wasn't the case for me except maybe the dead girl and hicks .

I have to say I absolutely hated the creature at the end of Resurrection but I saw a lot of good in that film as well, I absolutely Love Alien3 but again, I get why people are so critical, but there is no Part 3 to any film franchise I know of, including The Godfather, that was ever received that well. I would like to see all the new features on the New HD Blue Ray DVD's, apparently there is a restored or partially restored version of Fincher's original Workprint version of the film on it which I believe I have never seen, and think it may be quite different from even the extended edition in the Quadrilogy Box set.

Nice, Biomechanic! That's a very large explosion, with a crap-ton of debris flying out.......makes sense to conclude that one ship rammed the other, and the non-SJ ship was obliterated in the impact...and we see chunks of the other ship landing all around Theron and Rapace.......looks like we'll see this ship continue to rotate around ~ 180 degrees, until the "horn" with the quasi-fin visible here, strikes first, followed by the other, nearly on top of the female leads, as they flee. It must then continue rolling across the ground until it reaches a horns-up position in the shot with Rapace staring at it.

FrantzPrometheus ForumWhat am I
my take is a bit different ..after the impact the ship make a "controlled" fall with the horns-up ...then it fall down ( maybe because heavily damaged ) ...and reach the "derelict" standard position while the girls escape .

The alien kills for no apparent reason ? well so do the human race and yet we call ourselves the most civilized species on earth so theirs no argument there and from its birth it was surrounded by humans that wanted to kill it from the onset and may have- had it not been for Ash screaming don't touch it don't touch it. I'm basing all my theories on what i witnessed very early in the 1980s after seeing Necronomicon and all the additional themes that book explored to my mind most of the imagery in that book was from the same universe and some of that would have been great to have been included in subsequent films after the initial alien. It would have been an expensive undertaking but it also would have given the films a whole new perspective to explore instead of focusing on the character of ripley as a crucial element for driving a script.

Hmmm..."sounds like a warning", perhaps the very same one Nostromo picks up?! Could it be Shaw's message at the beginning of the trailer is to earth, saying, "He is coming, we were so wrong, I'm sorry' ?!

HI Biomechanic, you have to put headphones on. You can distinguish two voices in the intro emerging from the static. Theron's voice fades in about three seconds, she's seriously in distress, and is frantic to contact the Prometheus, perhaps after the drop ship, which might be Magellan explodes showering those rocky plains with debris. Rapace isn't saying you don't understand. She's saying "You have to understand, I was wrong,....we were all wrong." It's like a log excerpt, or perhaps something she's recording her last thoughts before she runs out of oxygen. It's a terrible way to die regardless, I think I'd just seek out the nearest malevolent alien lifeform and offer myself up for a quick demise. They are not talking to one another. It's overlapping sound excerpts from the film. We don't disagree, I have nothing to prove, I KNOW WHAT I"M HEARING...end of thread. This is Ripley last surviving crew member of the commercial towing vessel Nostromo signing off.

I am not trying to change your mind and I am open to what you are saying. I have analyzed them very scientifically though. I am up in the air about the "you don't understand" it could go either way. I was wondering if you read and listened to the audio clips I made here: You don't have to stop Seems I am alone in most of my interpretation but I am cool with that. P.S I listened to it with studio quality headphones slowed down and with EQ filters that isolates the vocal frequencies as much as possible.

I haven't listened to them and I am not in the least bit offended. I actually LIKE your posts, you are insightful, original, and damned open minded. I'm not saying that it's absolutely what's being said. It's just absolutely what I am hearing. I did read your postings, I just get very frustrated that nobody considers any of my questions or besides you and Spartacus gives me the coutesy of a read, a thought or a reply. I used to speak with Neurion but he was flamed so much in the threads he's sort of not around as much. Just saddens me that so many good ideas are submerged under the same contrite shallow theorists posting the same things in the wrong discussion forums over and over.

I am wearing Sennheiser HD 800's which are studio quality headphones, my rig itself is an Alienware Aurora. I'm an EVE online veteran pilot. So I tend to like high end equipment for my experience, this is what I listened to the trailer with. Mayhap my hearing is impaired from listening to such enhanced loud audio. Perhaps I am just hearing what I want to hear, or my brain is trying to recode the audio to fill in something undescernable. I dunno, I just want to wait and see, because both of those audio files coincide with what I am pretty sure is going to happen in the film.
