Why everyone seems to hate the flute scene? I think it's one of the best moments.

Btw after watching the honest trailer, I just realize it's the first Alien film features an xenomorph on a daylight. :D

They make their money and have their fun which is fine. The problem lies when people believe it and make up a judgement before a viewing.

I could rip every film i ever seen in some way or another. A:C had its flaws but as a standalone film vs any of the summers action flicks it stands up pretty good.

So casual fans would enjoy it IMO it no worse than any of the crap out right now. YT never should of paid these idiots (none of them) then see how much they dislike something when they not getting paid. silence

Hi Michael,

The Alien Covenant Boxes were processed by the Post Office’s largest private contractor (Pitney Bowes) who processes over 15 billion parcels a year for the USPS.

We choose them because of their track record, but we have had our challenges with delays on our first boxes.

The Alien Boxes left California on the Pitney Bowes trucks enroute to the regional Post Offices for scanning and processing last week.

I’m sorry that your box may miss your nephew’s birthday.  Where we have had visibility to events, we have expedited shipments when possible.

I’ve asked the VP at Pitney to see if he could locate your box and know I’ll hear back from him one way or the other this morning.

I’ll let you know and hope for a positive outcome.

Peter

So today is the 9th and no response since. So I agree this is probably bogus.

Such stupidity.

Were raising a generation of complainers. Nothing will ever be good enough. Don't you dare do something uneven cause we'll prove how stupid we both are with a youtube video!

I suggest they move out of their parents basement and write their own awesome(cause I'm 100% sure it will be!)movie! LOL!  It doesn't even have to be a movie...Do your own book series, comic....Can't for the life of me fathom such ineptitude. This is the best thing they can come up with their short young lives?

I suppose they make money....and snarky negativity sells and they DON'T Want to get a real job....So yeah I can see this.

Only insightful Youtube commentators can figure anything out.

I will be buying "The Art of" but have not ordered yet. Will this booklet (Target) be worth getting ? Otherwise it is steel book, no t-shirt, i have not decided

Any others available for BR other than those 3 i wonder ?

I tried to purchase HD but the extras only seem to be available on 1 version VUDU and it is for US only i think. i need a VPN

@Im Durp

Yeah? Maybe that's what floats their boat. Movies are thought exercises and some people like to debate. Coming from a family of lawyers (but thankfully not one myself) - trust me, arguing is how some people unwind.

It might not be your cup of tea but, we all like when scary movies make us fake-scared. Some of us like when controversial movies make us fake-angry or fake-adversarial.

Still, don't mistake any of it for serious. None of us (including you) would be be here engaging in the discussion if we weren't all having a good time of it.

murnauAlien: Covenant ForumWe’re not keen on kicking movies when they’re down, but...

Some movies suffer unjustly from snowballing negativity, and I think Covenant finds itself in that category; a movie that does middling box-office, gets mixed but quite a few good reviews, but then takes on the reputation as 'bad movie' probably because en masse we look for black and white certainty, not complexity and subtler shades.

Covenant has a lot in it that irritates, sure, and it is a strange mash-up of thoughtful Prometheus and slasher alien action, but like dk says, you could level a lot of the same criticisms at all the Alien movies, if you want to pull them apart. Or you could pull apart any movie. Citizen Kane's about a dead newspaper owner: boring. But if it gains that golden sheen of 'classic' or even 'everyone said it was good', then it becomes untouchable, and snowballs in the other direction.

I like A:C, despite its weird pacing, awkward compromises, and rather overstuffed narrative. Ridley's gives us a visual feast, yet again, and enough atmosphere for me to watch it over and over on blu-ray.

We should perhaps face the virtually inevitable fact that we won't get another Alien as good as 1979's Alien. Bottled lightning and all that. Let's enjoy what we do get, especially when Scott is still interested enough to add to his Ridley-verse. And sad as it is that these guys get kicks and money from pulling things apart, let's keep adding our positive voices to the party. . . .

chliAlien: Covenant ForumOur thoughts on Advent ?

I couldn’t resist giving a somewhat different (but similar in some aspects) 3 act structure, Michelle. :)

ACT 1

Setting: Origae 6. Colony established after 7,5 years in cryosleep on The Covenant and 1 year on the planet (We don’t get to know what David’s been up to during this time, but Daniels and Tennessee are gone).

Main Characters: A couple among the colonists. The woman is the protagonist (Scott can’t deviate from that :) ). There are conflicts between different factions in their newly established society on how to rule things and what to do. Engineers (not in the best of moods) later arrive (Act 3) after visiting Planet 4.

Antagonist: David (and his xenomorph experiments).

Call to Adventure: Xenomorph attack. The colony’s future is at risk

ACT 2

Battle between the main characters, David and the xenomorphs. They are defeated by David, the main characters captured, and the colony’s future seems over (many are dead and they are outnumbered by the xenomorphs).

ACT 3

Enter the engineers in a juggernaut. New battle. The heroine manages to escape from David and saves what’s left of the colony, but her husband dies heroically. David is defeated but the last surviving engineer sets off with the juggernaut, David’s eggs and crash lands on LV-426. There is no high-tech left but the colony survives and lives happily ever after.

I would rather see an epilogue, though, where we go back in time to the outbreak on LV-223. An engineer escapes in a juggernaut filled with eggs and crash lands on LV-426 (This way, we keep the connection between the Derelict (and the Space Jockey) and the outbreak on LV-223 about two millennia before the incident on Planet 4).

P.S. They should have kept the atmosphere of this in ACT 3 of AC :)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJcFsdVLs9Y D.S.

Their popularity is not in question. There is no soreness felt. It is all subjective at the end of the day- polls and upvotes can be treated as statistics because they can be measured but those are subjective too really. It's all good.

Michelle JohnstonAlien: Covenant ForumOur thoughts on Advent ?

sherris

There are two way thats you could achieve this in one movie.

The Snapshot Approach

You pick up the story at the precise moment everything is about to change dramatically namely:-

1) The set up (Act 1)

In this act we find out the colonists and Weyland Yutani's jeopardy and through this it explains what has happened since Davids last transmission. (They landed established a rudimentary colony, David began his experiments. W-Y turn up as the colonists seeming helpers in league with David but intend to neutralise David).

2) The Xenomorphs rebel against their creator made more complicated by W -Y behaviour (Act 2)

3) The arrival of the Juggernaut. (Act 3)

The Engineers agenda and possibly Walter. The War of the Worlds scenario.

Out of which David escapes, after infecting the Engineers  determined to continue with his plan, is overcome and sets down the Juggernaut en route to LV223 for the larger payload. Recognises the folly of his creation redemption.

That feels way to obvious but gives you more Xeno's, the Engineers the knowledge that W -Y know something and David's completion. This could be made much more sophisticated by making Walter and David adversaries during this period to focus the drama. David remember took three embryos with him to the ship according to ADF but only regurgitated two in the film. The Pathogen is capable of astonishing re targeting.

The tear drop ship would have to be a deus ex machina and if used sparingly to cleanse Origae 6 as the final pages eradicating the story so to speak.

The Framing Device

In this we see the science division of Weyland Yutani considering all the recordings of David and Walter (akin to the Crossing and Advent but much longer and more in the moment) and the story is told in segments, the crucial segments, until the decision to place Ash on board the Nostromo.

This latter one is often used by script writers when they are completing episodic television. You know the final outcome (we do any way) but the drama is all in the precisely what happens with the colonists, W-Y, Walter, Engineers and most significantly David.

If they make an honest buck, more power to them. It was well don for sure, but maybe that is the real point- cashing in on hate. Wouldn't be the first time. I heard them out, agreed with some points and not others. No big deal.

I could agree on some levels, but this looks deliberately snarky to me- deservingly on some points. I think the same treatment could be given to any Alien movie though- haters will find a way to hate. That goes for any entertainment be it movie.TV, music or literature.

I agree with BigDave in that I believe most of them are more suited to the expanded universe like comics and stuff.  I loved the preatorian guard in Earth War, but in a movie that would mean for the queen to return and I think there are more interesting ways to g like the ultramorph

No, I think it's pretty clear certain users on this site are taking this "review" very seriously since they're posting how the points are wrong, rather than just laughing it off.
