Director of the upcoming Alien 5, Neill Blomkamp just shared a picture on Instagram of a prop Pulse Rifle with a newly fitted RIS (Rail Interface System) and the caption "We all knew there would be Pulse Rifles. Obviously. Now with added RIS."
This likely means we can expect to see the return of the galaxy's ultimate badasses also known as the Colinial Marines! Considering Alien 5 will take place after James Cameron's Aliens, the inclusion of the Colonial Marines is expected. However, does this mean the portrayal of the Alien itself will be like how they were in Aliens? Or, will Blomkamp take the Alien back to its roots and portray the beast as the formidable beast it was intended to be rather than a mindless insect? As more details are released, we'll be sure to keep you updated.

Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 project was inevitably canceled following the merger between 20th Century Fox and Disney. Blomkamp had hoped to revive characters Hicks and Ripley for a new film, rewriting the Alien timeline, chalking up Alien 3 and Resurrection to mere bad dreams. Studio executives decided to can the project and instead took the franchise in a new direction, tapping Fede Alvarez to direct Alien: Romulus.
Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 is indefinitely shelved.
