Quentin Tarantino's Django unchained may be ok, that battleship film not sure about, tdkr i expect will be massive but there's only prometheus that's got me buzzing. I really like Tarsem Singh's films...... the cell , the fall, the immortals, i haven't seen but mirror mirror the snow white film could be cool .

The only reason I asked was that for years I have thought that in especially Aliens, If they needed to eat and I imagine that if they did they would need a fair amount of food, being a large organism. There would not have been enough humanoids on LV426 from the colony to support such a large hive. I have always imagined that the Aliens may have simply taken sustainance from whatever environment they live in.

Good point brego. I like the idea of ingesting whatever sustenance would have had been around them at the time. The question is what kind of sustenance are they ingesting and how are they able to live under such conditions. Maybe their an organism that can produce their own sustenance. Maybe food is just an option. Interesting?

Really looking forward to finding out! No matter what happens, and Ill repeat Im sure Ridley wont serve up anything that we expect, its gonna be a great ride.

Agreed zeta, The way he was treated in the original film by certain people i would be surprised if Dan O Bannon would have been persuaded to go on another journey with those people again. However he had a lot of respect for ridley and Giger and the crew on the film so i hope he gets at the very least a mention in the credits of his memory.

disregarding the alien-lites from the sequels, a likely possibility. remember, the original alien life form is supposed to be a perfect hunter and survivor. not something a band of marines just decimates with chain guns.

Sorry people. only just been able to get back on with a new account. You have no idea how frustrating it is not being able to reply to your own posts when others have, lol. RedHood. I adore 'The Thing' its also one of my all time fave sci fi movies. Incidentally, I haven't seen the prequel to it but I'm led to believe it's not a patch on the original. Perhaps if they had gotten Carpenter to do it, like with Ridley and Prometheus, it would be as good as the original(remake)lol. I saw the original 50s version when I was a nipper and still love the vegetable Frankenstein creature to this day. Watching the old 50s B movies is when I first fell in love with this genre. It captivates the imagination on so many levels. Such inspiring stuff. Amazing The sci-fi movies of this day and age may have massive budgets, but they are created for the brainless sheeple audience who would rather see a thousand bodies torn into shreds by a CG monster than actually indulge in a bit of quality story telling. Lets hope Ridley can put all this to rights. Its a huge burden, but if anyone can.....

How about if that Saucer ship in the trailer is not on Earth millions of years ago but more recent in our history lets say 40,000 to 60,000 thousand years ago (why you may ask?). Well I read (and correct me if I am wrong) that Neanderthals and Humans are cousins from the same tree of Humanity but a different branch, a split so to speak. What if the "GODS" find earth and its Neanderthal inhabitants, study them and find them a dead end..they tinker with their DNA and low and behold create Humans. Now they don't want the Neanderthals to compete with there fledgling creation and they get rid of the Neanderthals, to allow their creation the time to flourish. Kind of plays into the scientific study of today and the mystery of why/how the Neanderthals disappeared .

I like that scenario..but I'd like to make some addendums...1st off, it seems it would be a bit more logical that they didn't send the Nostromo to Zeta II Reticuli for that reason, not knowing exactly where Prometheus wound up specifically, but knew the Nostromo would pass through that region of space and put Ash on board in the hopes that they would pick up something, like a signal, in transit. 2nd, I haven't agreed at all with the idea that the Prometheus expedition started the signal loop. So the idea that the signal was sent to the Nostromo from the Company doesn't jive for me either. Also. if it had been relayed from the Company, it would follow that they know exactly where to look for their lost expedition and would have sent a second to follow up and investigate. Because, as we all know, the Nostromo picked up the signal on the return portion of its journey. If the Prometheus crew had started the loop, it would not be so alien to Mother....although, ECIU did manage to work out enough to know it was some kind of warning, so, it's anybody's guess.

Craigamore I like what you are saying... but I am thinking more in the line that the company has recieved this signal when Nostromo is docked at the station before they go to hyper sleep for the journey back home. They have an android at this station that they can insert for the return trip to facilitate this investigation and find out the Prometheus' fate. I am still in the mind set to believe that W&Y has heard the warning from lets say the derelict on LV 426. They know it is not or was not Prometheus' destination but they sure know the voice of Noomi (her character) and they hear the warning but it is cut off. W&Y is extremely motivated to get a ship there as fast as possible to find out what happened. Low and behold this Nostromo Mining ship they own is near enough to divert quickly (reletevily speaking). Their company man/android is put on board at the last minute...nice scenario, no? Besides RS releases this trailer with a warning message to start off with..coincidence?? is he just giving us fans a red herring to mess with our minds..and that message/warning in the trailer has nothing to do with Alien. I am kind of leaning towards it being connected until/if we get more clarification with a new in depth trailer. On a side note, is LV 426 10months from earth?? Yeah great discussion, but it's got me thinking... wasn't the Nostromo travelling in hyperspace when it intercepted the distress signal from the Derelict? But I thought radio signals do not permeate between normal space and hyperspace? Anyway, I'm probably over-analysing this - at this rate I'll defunct the whole story.

Okay - I'll give in. Here's how it goes down. lets say said employee has a spouse. And a mother/ father and brothers / sisters. Lets say said employee is given a mission that he/ she never returns from. Company then has to kill off said relative. Then the neighbors of said relative know somthings missing. Company now has to kill off neigbors. Places where they work - sorry the local grocery stores got to go. The local bloger - yeap no more typing. Have you ever seen domino's fall? Even recently we've seen people rise up against leaders of countries. Lybia etc. But hey A Mega corp with a bad track record is untouchable. Everything that rises will fall. A company that deals with shenanigans will come to its demise. Just like nations do.

That is one thing I have always liked about star trek. from all it cheesy make up, overacting, and bad set, they do hit on some interesting philosophical sci fi topics. Love it or hate it, some of the episodes are thinkers. A being that isn't god but lives in a worm hole/black hole and has no concept of linear time. A weird blobish creature that kills by absorbing salt. Star Trek the motion picture is not great but what you find out in the end is. that's what great sci fi does. Terminator has it too though it didn't invent the idea of human killing themselves with technology, Matrix, A.I., Bladerunner, BattleStar G.... The basic plot of Alien isn't/ wasn't a new invention, but how it was realized and executed was. Even Scott talks about the movie as being a pretty basic set up. Mystery monster stalks the cast who are without weapons and good leadership. What stalks them; however, was different and complicated.. What is even more interesting and possibly disturbing is in the backstory....

@ArchEtech, that interesting, disturbing something you speak of in 'Alien's backstory is exactly what I'm talking about....the attempt to look into the unimaginable and somehow picture it; it's fascinating. Everything 'Prometheus' portends to be seems, more and more, to exemplify that different, complicated, unknowable grope in the dark for what hides amidst the far reaches of space....what hides there waiting for the crew of the Prometheus.

Fear and fascination stroll hand in hand down prometheus Lane. That's what always drew me towards sci-fi and horror themed media. The need to understand the unknown, the terrible, unimaginable unknown.

I don't visit IMDB much. As much as I want to know every little detail, at the same time I don't because I don't want my expectations to be unfounded, or god forbid, the spoilers and leaked scripts etc, to actually be right.

...their was that theory about the big head being the pilot of the ship...?...their was no big head in Alien...but this might be a different part of the ship that they never got around to exploring in Alien.

good thinking provo. it was a huge theme from alien, and it fits with the new film. rapace's "pregnancy", etc. pay attention. thematic connections and aesthetic consistency are what makes a good theory.
