PredatordreadsPrometheus ForumTrailer soon?Oct 30, 2011
So In Time just came out and it seems as though there has been no trailer. Looks like we are still in the dark. I am willing to say that at thid point who knows. I doubt we'll see it attached to Sweet Valley High meets Clash of the Titans aka The Immortals. If it happens I will fall out of my seat. I almost dont want a trailer at this point and just let the build up blow my mind.

This was originally a "Prank" image initiated by Alien vs Predator fan site AvPGalaxy.net last April as an April Fool. The picture went viral within a couple days and many sites claimed it as official concept artwork, but following those few days, AvPGalaxy.net clarified and explained that this image was in fact a false piece created by one of their local members. Here's their original April Fool's post
The shoulder canon is that of the "Predator" franchise, nothing to do with Alien or Prometheus for that matter.
But in terms of the artwork, it was very well done and fooled alot of people!
ReplyBurstPrometheus ForumSpace Engineer Picture (Old Hoax)Oct 29, 2011
Damn British movie site!!! Thanks for the clarification. Well I knew that shoulder canon looked a bit suspicious. Now I feel like an idoit. A real Alien fan would not believe this right away. I jumped a little to far ahead. Still looks cool though.

Don't beat yourself up, many fell for it. Many 'Alien' fans. It was a good prank, and a very well drawn image regardless!

Wow. I think it could be legit, I know of a dude who got some extra work through them. They'll sometimes let info like that be available to the actors who are members because you have to pay for some of these types of sites. I'm using one for actors/musicians to try to get a recording contract for my band. With Dark Knight Rises, I actually saw a casting call for the prison break scene that I think was shot back in Pittsburgh; so anyone applying online and the site itself knew a little bit before the reports came in about what goes on in that scene (even though the details in the DKR scene I saw only outlined the types of characters present). Allows the people to have some idea what they'd be playing before they travel a long distance for an audition.

Yeah, it's jockey's - AWESOME! I think Lindelof's unanswered question is about them and what happened to the Jockey's chestburster, and if this is the case, we will have an epic on our hands!! WE NEED THE TRAILER THIS WEEKEND!!! :)

ReplyJSMoorePrometheus ForumWho is going to compose the musical score for PROMETHEUS? Oct 27, 2011
Haha K4kindle! I was thinking of the same composer.I thought Elliot Goldenthal's score to Alien 3 was spectacular, as well as his score to HEAT and Public Enemies.
Another option would be Brian Reitzell, who scored 30 DAYS OF NIGHT. He actually creates his own instruments to create unique and strange sounds.

Hey Guys,
The Alien is supposed to have a very short lived life span much like the mayfly. The mayfly lives in fresh water as a nymph for a year but once it matures and turns into an adult it lives a single day and its sole purpose is to reproduce. My guess is it is somewhere keeled over dead. But, we have no idea what the aliens final life stages are though it could melt down into a stew since it has molecular acid for blood or it could just fall over dead and decay like we do.

Rick

Hey Bio,
Nah its a discussion thread. Being that Giger inspired your work you can discuss what work of Gigers' were your inspiration behind them. I'm open to anything Giger related in the thread as long as its on topic which is Giger. You won't find anyone give you any problems about your work there.
Xeno, you need to compare the theatrical version against the director's cut.
Here is the original
Scary
I cannot find the version that is in the director's cut, but I will have a better look later.
I have no idea why they changed it, the original is very off putting .
I know, the version you posted is the original raw deleted scene. The only version of this scene re-edited and put back in the film is the 2003 directors cut which they changed the transmission sound itself.
Seems like just about everybody is in agreement, that the original (Ben Burtt) sound effect for this scene is superior to the one that was subsequently edited into the 2003 Director’s Cut for thearical release and DVD. I happen to agree with that aesthetic opinion. It has a weird sort of…hydro-electronic tonality that (to me) works perfectly with the whole biomechanical pseudo- nature of the Space Jockey and its vessel
I agree, the original Ben Burtt verison fits completely.

I happen to agree with that aesthetic opinion. It has a weird sort of…hydro-electronic tonality that (to me) works perfectly with the whole biomechanical pseudo- nature of the Space Jockey and its vessel. As mentioned by another member, the reedited sound effect does sound strikingly similar to one particular sound effect heard in the “STAR WARS” cantina scene. Perhaps, it too is also a Ben Burtt sound design creation. I think that the original sound is far more disturbing and otherworldly though…and therefore, right on the money.
@Arrgy,
I think that’s an interesting idea you have there. I’ve pondered that myself. I suppose that I just prefer the idea that “the Company” (WT) was just as much in the dark about the Alien transmission and situation, as our favorite Space truckers. I like to imagine that the Company was also unable to completely decrypt or decipher the transmission. And that they just didn’t mind putting their employees in harm’s way, if it might mean bigger profits. Wouldn’t be the first time. I like your idea though. I guess this is part of the reason that I hope that the new film doesn’t just explain everything away. I really like the mystery of it all…

I just read on the Prometheus Wiki he's filming a PG-13 and R versions.
Alteredstate, i believe that the R rating is 18 for us Brits.
Replyalteredstate.Prometheus ForumTo be or not to be pg 13Oct 25, 2011
I agree with all of what your saying Frantz but in gladiator the subject matter of the film would merit a stronger depiction of the kind of horrors the romans forced people to do in the gladiatorial arena.
Also centurion was not intended to be a laugh out loud romp and like Unadan i thought it was quite brutal but realistic.
If you get the chance to see or maybe you have seen Caligula then you can appreciate the savage brutality of the Roman empire although on the whole its a dated film now and quite crap lol.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumTo be or not to be pg 13Oct 25, 2011
The roman empire was not more brutal than any other empire ( or even republic ) of history ... you surely know that Gibbon said "If a man were called to fix the period in the history of the world during which the condition of the humans race was most happy and prosperious , he would , without hesitation , name that which elapsed from the death of Domitian to the ascension of commodus . the vast extent of the Roman empire was governed by absolute power , under the guidance of virtue and wisdom etc etc ..."
The people who watched Gladiator fights were no better than the ones watching a Nascar race waiting for a crash .
Btw to me Centurion is a "light" movie ..entertaining but not heavy . "Black Death" is an heavier one .

No matter what they say I think it's safe to say every one of us is gonna run like sheer nylons lol to get into our respective theaters ASAP for this one.
They could even tell me they slapped a "PG" rating on it, I might be disappointed and/or "P.O.'d" but I'd be lying if I didn't say "I don't care I'm goin' anyways".

ReplyTheuspromPrometheus ForumAlien deleted scene , brett and dallas cocoonedOct 24, 2011
They are being transformed into eggs, but as this was a deleted scene, and Cameron changed the life cycle in Aliens (Alien Queen) I doubt it will be referenced in Prometheus. However, I do think human transformation will be a big factor in Prometheus.
The cocoon sequence, involving the transformation of Brett and Dallas into eggs, was filmed but was dropped from the final cut of the original release because director Ridley Scott felt that the sequence interrupted the pace of the film. He believed that the inclusion of this sequence interfered with Ripley's attempt to exit the ship, which would have unnecessarily slowed down the picture. The cutting of the cocoon sequence was an attempt by the director to keep tension in the final minutes of the film, not an attempt to alter the intended life cycle. However, Ridley Scott said that the Theatrical Cut is his "Director's cut" and any alternate versions are just special editions for fans. Therefore his intention was to leave this scene out. That scene is now available in the Director's cut.

You can clearly see the "Brett egg" almost complete in this image.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumAlien deleted scene , brett and dallas cocoonedOct 24, 2011
Ridley Scott will be much more loyal to his deleted scenes than to cameron work .
To be honest i find this more cool that the "human/hybrid" that was already explored in Alien 4 . Also you remember that in the comic con footage there is a scene with someone burning something on the ground ( or not so tall ) with a flamethrower

Quote - OK i've compared both DVD & Blu ray of the alien transmission scene and they are both the same. Only difference really is that the Blu ray version sounds better. - Quote
The alternate signal is only on the Director's Cut of the Bluray, that's why you didn't find any difference. The Bluray has two versions, choose Director's Cut and skip to that scene, it is different. The new "signal" is hopeless compared to the original imho.

ReplyStarbeastEngineer0001Prometheus ForumPrometheus Plot...?Oct 24, 2011
From what Rhunter describes, Ridley Scott's announcement, and other considerations (notably, Erich von Daniken's "Chariots of the Gods"), we can assume that this is a film about ancient astronauts and their encounter with the Weylan Corporation explorers before merging with Yutani Industries in order to acquire a Xenomorph specimen. Based off of the urns with "goo" , the heiroglyphs, underground chambers, and the mutation in the Comic-Con footage-it seems that the Space Jockey race are revered as Holy Engineers and Gods- that helped advance the human race to greater levels, but with a more darker and mysterious twist.
Here's how I put it:
Millions and Millions of years ago, a most superb, intelligent, creative, and domineering race swept the galaxy. Explorers. Engineers. Gods. Having the potential to blossom space with the beauty of life, they set about to reap the benefits of their creations. But from great deeds came great consequence...their own creations, their "children" became uncontrollable, uncontained. It wasn't long before they became threatened themselves...and vanished into the hourglass of time...but not forever
