Pretty much that is what we will get...I suppose that is why he shot footage for the trailer so the real footage is not shown and keeps the story in the darkness.... but to the peeps getting kicks faking things...to the gallows with them.

How ironic, I just finished watching Alien tonight as well. I don't think the company had any prior knowlege of the Alien itself, but wanted "whatever it was" to be brought back for analysis. Ash's new orders came once the distress call was intercepted by the Nostromo.
Ash didn't know what it was, all he knew was what he had learned in the short time of examining it in the med-lab and then as the crew were picked off one by one.
One of the scenes I found interesting, was the part when they're going to land on LV-426 and they hear an elephant-like sound and Parker says "What the hell was that?" but nobody else seems to hear it. I'm curious if that was part of the distress call which they intercepted or if it was just the sound of the wind outside.

Not to mention the deleted scene in which you actually hear the "Jockey" speak for a good 12 seconds, perhaps that perked the curiosity to gather whatever is found

There is deep underlying story where Prometheus, I hope answers these questions. Special Order 937, someone knew the ship was there and what the cargo was. Did an android from the Prometheus film gather data that was transmitted back from him to the dark figures of the company..thus alerting them to the space jockey ship?

Well the science officer is also the doctor ...and usually you never risk a doctor . Since ripley was the second in charge ( you dont send BOTH the two highest grade in the same mission ) and since the two technicians were at work to repair the ship dallas choice is maybe the only he had ....
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumMy expectations for PrometheusNov 7, 2011
Yes, as i stated elsewhere i think the deleted "cocooned" scene from Alien should be a great starting point ... is horrifyng and original and to be ,by far ,a superior and scaring idea than everything was made in the sequels .
ReplyMentosPrometheus ForumMy expectations for PrometheusNov 7, 2011
I think thats a pretty solid take on the situation, and to be honest I hope that's what we're given in Prometheus. It'll be a logical choice.
I think with each film that was added to the franchise, the idea behind the Alien became less frightening and the mystery deteriorated. I still don't like what Aliens added to the franchise if I'm honest (still a great film to watch though).
Some sort of mutant creature(s) will work very nicely in Prometheus. In fact, though Alien Resurrection is a terrible, horrible film I quite liked the idea of the New Born. It was grotesque and fairly original. I think if Resurrection never existed and the New Born turned up in Prometheus fan's would've been quite pleased with it.
ReplyRickPrometheus ForumMy expectations for PrometheusNov 7, 2011
You know that is a good point. Now one thing that is also overlooked in Resurrection was that the Aliens didn't kill the scientists. They cocooned them and created some sort of bio interface with them. The one scientist that was teaching the aliens I thought was directly relating what the Queen was feeling and thinking. Now take this back to the Alien basics with the original Alien.

Yeah, sounds like it is really taking shape. The big thing for me is that he hints the Space Jockeys are not the engineers, or there are good and bad Jockeys. Also, the Prometheus link becomes more apparent, much more than just the name of the ship.It is now starting to come together for me,good and bad Jockeys/higher beings, uncivilized behaviour, the Prometheus angle, all starting to make sense :).
Mr. Scott's just-completed film "Prometheus" represents his first sci-fi release in nearly three decades. The movie, he said, is about "a higher being who challenges the gods" and is punished for his temerity.
The screenplay for "Prometheus" was written by Damon Lindelof and Jon Spaihts. While Mr. Scott refrains from calling it a prequel to "Alien," the last eight minutes of the "Prometheus" story evolve into "a pretty good DNA of the 'Alien' one," he said.
"Prometheus" was shot in 3-D with computer-generated imagery, in contrast to "Alien," when Mr. Scott and his team used spaceship models and a puppet and actor in costume as the alien. Since then, Mr. Scott has embraced computerized special effects, and said directing "Prometheus" was "the best time I've had in a number of years making a movie."
Nonetheless, Mr. Scott said computerized effects don't mean much without a strong story, which is why he has worked for years to develop the scripts for his current projects, and why he has such respect for sci-fi writers.
"The hardest single thing to do is write a screenplay or book," he said. "I'm not a writer, really. I get on very well with writers because I know they're my best friend."

"The central metaphor of “Prometheus” is about a “higher being” who challenges the gods, and the gods don’t want to give him fire. “Fire is our first form of technology,” Scott says, and so by taking fire, the higher being is punished “in perpetuity in a horrible fashion.” Much like the story of the mythological god, Prometheus, who stole fire from Zeus and for his actions was bound to a rock with an eagle eternally devouring his liver."
-Scott

so the higher being can be really that poor space jockey fused on the chair ..chestbusting every night :p
ReplyPrivate HudsonPrometheus ForumRidley Reveals Nov 7, 2011
Fitting theory for the new movie, the space jockey being the challenger and eventually being punished..hmmm...sounds good guys.
ReplyGuestPrometheus ForumRidley Reveals Nov 7, 2011
Hello there! First time here! O.K. maybe i'm wrong, but i heard that we are the best creations (higher being) of the Space Jockey( god) and that they are in "awe"of us !!! So when we go to their homeworld, we stole something there(stole fire from the god), and they start to punish us in horrible ways !!!

I remember this painting from way back, what springs to mind is that this was to be used in the movie, as a wall painting or sculpture within what was supposed to be the Alien Pyramid? Before the space jockey ship came into existence?

I am a highly Americanized Canadian so maybe I can give you guys some perspective.
I prefer American TV, Sports, Culture, Women and almost everything else to it's Canadian counterpart.
BUT, there is one thing I have to say despite my Love of the United States and it;s people.
IMO, EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO TOOK PART IN ANY OF THESE...
should be immediately be DEPORTED from the United States to Syria, Iran, Iraq, Gaza, Afghanistan, Somalia, China, North Korea, or anywhere like that take your "frikking" pick.
How ANYONE, can live and work in the United States and then spend months of their time complaining about how bad they have it, NEEDS to be deported, it will only BETTER your country.
I think the people doing this are incapable and LAZY COWARDS with a nice idea in theory and NO IDEA whatsoever how to make it a reality without using it as a cheap excuse to get out of their responsibilities in life.
I think their free loaders looking for a handout.
I say give em one, a FREE Ticket Out Of Town with instructions and directions and a warning to NEVER come back.

LMAO.
sometimes I put on Alien3 and try to see if I can fall asleep before the "Knewt" autopsy scene and her being so "carefully" disected, at Ripleys insistence, by Clemens.
If I put on resurrection the game is to see If I can fall asleep before "Johner" launches his pocket knife into "Vriess's" leg while he's busy working with an AutoBot "Call" Wynona"
LMFAO.

very exciting, and I hope to g-d he takes his sweet ass time doing/making it.

ReplyPrivate HudsonPrometheus ForumBlade Runner sequelNov 6, 2011
The first I heard of this was a comment, idol gossip mostly, that it was going to be a remake of the original movie, to say I was opposed to such a remake was putting it lightly. Not I read on a few sites and reports that is going to be a new movie, non of the original cast members / characters will feature in it, that's good news anyways.
As for any ideas or speculation from my end, I would like to see some modified version of the books that proved to be exceptionally worthy follow ups to the film and the Philip K Dick novel. As long as Scot is a the helm, has no interference from studio, as was the case with the first, we should get a movie as visually stunning and deep as the first.

Keep in mind that Ridley has to come up with a story that a mass audience, and diverse audience can easily understand and follow, not just for the hardcore fans of the franchise, if people don't understand story they won't buy tickets, which then equals no sequel, I just think to expect a watered down version of things that will be easy for casual movie goer to follow
ReplyajrartPrometheus ForumVery smart ideaNov 3, 2011
Interesting idea, but flawed. The genesis of the prometheus title i believe is much more generalized and directed at the philosophy behind the story itself. Your going first visually in your concept to Jacob Jardean's interpretation of Zeus's punishment for Prometheus, but think more abstractly. What did Prometheus do? He brought fire to man, he was always a champion of man, most of the gods found this to be particularly distressing in the myths.
In Scott's new film I believe Prometheus to represent the advance of science. This concept can be supported by the antagonists of the original Alien: The Ship, The Robot, and the Alien itself (A biological weapon) Whereas the machines have been the go to golum of american science fiction cinema for the last 50 years it is now scientific progress that will take the front seat. The synopsis, as we know it so far is this...man discovers space jockey artifact on earth, man travels to space jockey world, man STEALS tech from the Jockeys and battle ensues, thus it is man's science, his curiosity and ultimately his inner golum and fatal flaw that represents the ideal of prometheus for us in this film. -Keep it up posters I love this S--T!
