The back of Dr. Shaw's head looks like a cobra fan. It appears that David 8 is pulling the sloughing skin off the large area of mutation in Advent.

I agree with dk, the second one is very Blade Runner, I like it very much, and the ship is nice, too.

Yes, I'm reluctant to nail them down as eggs because of where David 8 was harvesting them from. I also agree that David 8 could be very resourceful in using these black goo-based tissue in his works. 

He also seemed to be harvesting other tissue as well.

No much need for an "honest trailer" when a movie is such an easy target for parody. Funniest part was Batman on the beach.

Seriously, August 15th is close (Blu-ray), that's why the similar posters are so active and do everything against Covenant. After August 20th they'll disappear.

BigDave I liked that original idea about the xenomorph dying after securing the next-stage propagation of its species. Just like the battery acid blood theory...they just seem so incomprehensible and alien to us. Yet also very efficient!

I can't say im a huge fan of the regenerating xeno either, seems tacky. I point out Dead Space / RE because in those instances it works well, and they are intimidating enemies to combat. But given the already established traits of the xenomorph you're right I don't it works from a bio-weapon perspective.

Apparently there was a reason David could not send a loud and powerful transmission.

Hallett and Hatton indicated in the AVP podcast that David could not get a clear transmission sent because of the protective shield the Engineers placed around the planet, which was also the cause of the storms and why the Covenant could not establish clear communication. They said that was in the script, but never made it into the finished movie.

We also see David removing them from inside a neomorph hand, which has several of them inside, so I'm not sure those were meant to be "eggs".

I assumed these were tumerous growths, but tumors with some interesting cells inside that worked for David's purposes.

Kethol and i mentioned that in Advent David uses his left hand to check Daniels sleep pod. 

At first i thought it was an oversight. Now i am thinking that David did NOT cut his hand off. Perhaps in the time after the fight with Walter and before he meets up with Daniels he just covered it up to make it look like he was missing a hand.

In fact, if you look closely you may notice that his left (injured) hand is almost the same length as the other and looks like it could be a clenched fist which is covered over  and not a missing hand ????

To be honest, I don't think Phobos really fits with the look and pacing of the film. Kind of like the David 8 promo, it's one of those videos that is super interesting and provides deeper context but best left outside of the main narrative, otherwise it feels shoved in.

I think it's funny.

And yes, I liked the movie. Saw it 4 times in cinema.

Thank you Lawrence of Arabia. I agree and hope the trickle of new content continues. I would most likely pass out if something came out with David 8 working on an Engineer.

To change it up from Mother waking the crew(too A L I E N like)to check on a distress signal........Walter could have found Shaw's signal and alerted the crew, saving some budget.

Was David perfectly happy to be stuck on planet 4 for the next thousand years? Didn't he want to escape and try his experiments on some humans? You would think David would try anything to get off the planet or have visitors. Send his own distress signal as loud and powerful as he could.

I believe that Walter said that there were seven more jumps on the journey to Origae-6 after the flare incident. I assume that the Covenant would have to drop out of FTL (faster than light) travel to charge with the sails.

So, David 8 had to be pretty lucky to have an FTL ship drop to cruising speed for a recharge near enough to his planet to pick up the Dr. Shaw Country Roads weak transmission.

In the incredible distance to Origae-6, I don't know how many recharge cycles there are but to get hit by a random particle burst next door to David 8 squatting on Paradise is pretty lucky for that android if he didn't operate Engineer technology to make the burst happen.

I do believe if there was a space-based perimeter far around the planet Paradise then the burst would come from another sector. After all the searching, Paradise wasn't even picked up. I'm sure this is because the Engineers wanted to be hidden from trespassers and their technology most likely made that happen when the humans were searching for a new home.

Interesting thread. I also want to know more about David's process and Advent is so fulfilling.

The honest trailer is biased as f*ck. Anyone can see that.

 I disagree a lot with this trailer but it's popular to hate on A:C.

Where is this "Alien Covenant" is a BAD movie narrative's ground zero? It certainly is NOT the popular commentary, given the vast majority of positive reviews. You'd think that A:C was truly "Ishtar" or something like that....jeez.

It was just a random stellar event. Why they said 'neutrino burst' in the movie is beyond me. I assume the writers did not understand what a neutrino was, or confused something they read online about an atomic blast. They later call it a 'spontaneous stellar flare' and 'highly charged shockwave from a stellar ignition' in the movie, which makes more sense.

Basically they are implying the ship was hit by the shockwave from a nearby star that had gone super nova without actually saying that.

She didn't reciprocate his feelings and tried to escape, David doesn't like things he 'loves' to leave him.

I would like it if they continued off from Resurrection lol It's not a great movie but it's not bad imo. I digress from OT, Earth should look claustrophobic, futuristic but gritty. Remember, they are on colonization missions because of the state Earth is in.

Xenos are no match for a nuke !! which is what David is getting up his arrogant arse 

Anyways..... Yes i think he was just testing his Xeno in action. Perhaps wanting to tweak certain areas after reviewing the fight. Also building trust incase of any variables. So Tee and Daniels' trust is reinforced by Walters help.

David has an intricate plan which started possibly when he came online. He set the energy burst, lured the Covenant and gained access to the ship. Why risk the bigger picture for 1 morph? he has over 2000 Xenos in reserve.

I'm looking forward to the novel too. I wonder if WY knew something about Planet 4 as Daniels was convinced they found nothing in the sector but maybe they covered it up? WY shouldn't know anything but then why would someone try to sabotage the Covenant launch?

me too. the only reson i didn't mention it in this topic is because I wrote a whole artical on why we nead to see the ultramorph in awakening about 2 weeks ago

I've said this many times before but I felt A:C was a love letter to the franchise as it encapsulated everything thus far. It was beautiful and David is the best villain lol Like you said, I think some wanted to see a different film and wasn't expecting it to be so dark (which I loved). They also want all the answers but then that would defeat the allure of the prequels wouldn't it? The complaints about the crew though are the dumbest I've ever seen. 'Why didn't they wear helmets?!' Mu/Th/Ur scanned the atmosphere and said it was safer than their destination and Earth, the planet even had the same flora and possibly fauna. 'dumb scientists made dumb decisions', you would too if your worst nightmare came to be and only three out of 11 were actually scientists. 'Why'd Oram listen to David' He didn't necessarily see David as a threat and he said they were safe. After the Neomorph attack on Rosenthal he demanded David for answers and he gave them to him.

Have any females in any of the Alien movies been facehugged?  I remember seeing something about RS wanting the movies to scare men with rapy type scenes, so only men got facehugged.  Except for Ripley when she killed herself because she knew she had a queen embryo in her.  That sounds pretty safe to assume that maybe it only takes a female host of a facehugger to make a queen.

Continuing from Resurrection would be a great way to bring it to Earth. A reason that may not work is that Resurrection received a ton of hate.
