It'd be cool if David would narrate the history of the Engineers. He must know a bit about them after ten years?

David ( voice over )"...The Engineers ever expanding empire was never seriously challenged..."

Footage of juggernauts and large cities.

"..But all good things must come to an end....."

Footage of death and destruction.

"The arrival of the Slomalgut ( dead ones ) championed their end. A terrifying race of super beings, bent on the cultivation of living tissue....."

"...The Engineers quickly began modifying themselves in a failed attempt to slow down the Slomalgut ....."

Seems it could be FUN.....

Sadly i do-not have the Spec PC for this (mine is 15 Years Old) and well my Power House Games Console is a PS3/Xbox360 which i have NOT Played in 5 Years lol

Maybe one of those could do with a Long Overdue UPGRADE but i said that with the NEW Star Wars Battle Front (I had/loved the Originals from 2004-2005).

I will add that we have NOT yet had a Conclusion... and so we can Speculate a Little.

IF they got to Conclude the Prequels we could always be Introduced to Taller Humanoids who they can Reveal as either a Sub-Creation of the Engineers or even the Engineers Creators.  They could make this Race/Being as 10ft Tall and they could be Very Human/Engineer looking or maybe Slightly Different.

Maybe like this? or even Less Human.

I do Suspect that IF we got a Conclusion then the Revelation i Suspect would have been either a Sub-Creation by David or David himself.  Even if this would NOT be 13-15ft Tall... i dont think RS would have Cared about HOW things looked Physically it would be as Michelle said... HOW the STORY FITS and is TOLD that is more Important to Ridley Scott.

Regarding the Space Jockey being something the Engineers had Created/Engineered.... then YES i think that was what we was being SHOWN as FAR as the LV-223 Engineers being those PILOTS and also being a Enhanced Super Soldiers of their Society.

IF we are willing to ACCEPT those LV-223 Engineers are a Engineered/Enhanced version of the Engineers then WHO is to say the Engineers have NOT got even more BIGGER GUYS they have Genetically Enhanced?

The Middle Image is what we would have GOT had say the Space Jockey Suit been about 10ft as Intended before Mid-Production and Shooting.

While its NOT as BIG as the 13ft Space Jockey, it would look Close Enough and well the GUY had Grown out of his Chair ;)

And who is to say there are NOT like 9-10ft Engineers or Sub/Enhanced Creations?

I dont think that RS had EVER intended to show us the Actual Space Jockey from ALIEN so it did-not Matter to him (Kept it a Mystery), but with the Direction of AC i think had he Concluded the Prequels it would NOT have bothered HIM if we had to Accept the Space Jockey would be the SAME as the Pilot in Prometheus.

But i do Suspect he would have THROWN a Curve-ball that would have Displeased the Fans.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumThe Space Jockey

I think Regarding what Ridley Scott had intended, then for me it was NO Surprise the Space Jockey were BALD HUMANOIDS as this is WHAT we saw with HR Gigers Concepts for ALIEN, and also his Space Jockey Concept looked like a Space Suit.

It was intended to have a Taller Race of Engineers but it was a Creative Decision at the Time of some of the Production to go with a Smaller Engineer/Space Jockey Race because Ridley Scott does Prefer to be as Practical as Possible and like to NOT use CGI if he can.  This is in Part as to WHY we had Zombie Fifield as RS was a Fan of the Work that Sean Haris had put into the Action Scene.

I think that YES there are Differences Aesthetically between the Derelict and Juggernaught and Engineers Space Suit and the Space Jockey, but these are INTENDED and RS was Happy with the Result, while they MAY-NOT look the Same they are Intended to be for all Intensive Purposes and RS does-not LOOSE any Sleep over HOW they are NOT like Identical etc.

The Scale of the Engineer is something that RS does-not have a Issue with either, and so IF we had a Conclusion then maybe we should NOT go and Expect to see a 13ft Being in that Pilot Chair.

The Actual Pilot Chairs of the Derelict and Juggernaught are Similar, including the Size, its only in ALIEN and Prometheus the Pilots are NOT the same Size, but as Dallas has said "it looks like its GROWN out of the Chair" and so that could be ALL the Explanation we NEED/GET.

For me the Slight Aesthetical Differences were NO PROBLEM... the Scale was a BIT, i think its a Shame our  Engineers were NOT like 9-10ft Tall, but this does-not RULE-OUT there are 9-10ft Tall Engineers.

"...evolutionary techniques on themselves"

This makes total sense from a human standpoint, who doesn't want to be taller, stronger, faster, etc...? I can only imagine what humans will do to themselves given the technology.  Instead of super soldiers...maybe designer genes are where it's at?

On the question of size and slight differences in design that is merely artistic licence. It is entirely clear from one of the Furious Gods Documentary PODS that they worked painstakingly to 'make' the reveal in Prometheus work and for the audience to make the connection. People may not like it but that's the reality.

My own view is that Monster Zero moves into much more fertile and interesting territory when he speculates on how the Space Jockey has come about.

In my work, both the Juggernauts and their pilots are the result of playing with the creation tool. The Juggernauts are both alive and mechanical and the underlying matrix which drives them has one source which manifests itself in a number of different ways.

The creatures of the Moon have not only pursued sub-creation through hosting but also experimented with evolutionary techniques on themselves and other living creatures. The thing that they created drives everything and in the case of ship/pilot leads to a symbiotic relationship which Elizabeth and to a much greater extent David interfaces with.

I also felt it was important to elevate in the story the particular Engineer and his ship which became the SJ and Derelict. Like the Engineer celebrated/worshipped in the Pyramid, the SJ has a unique and important back story.

In a sense what I am saying is the physical distinctions are much less important than how you place these characters in the story you wish to tell. If they are crucial to the story in a unique way that makes them "big" in a much more profound sense and can give them importance in a new and intreaguing way.

Love that artwork!   ( Was the NewBorn done forming? Most think the Deacon, like the newborn, was an infant? Takes awhile for the xeno....)

I'd like to think the SpaceJockey ( Alien ) is a mutated military abomination created by the Engineers splicing their own genes. Creating super soldiers.....probably exactly what the militaries on Earth would do if they could!

So the Engineers created super soldiers and gave them modified / upgraded juggernauts?

I still think you could Explore the Space Jockey as something Else.

As i have indicated on this Topic what we have is a Space Suit where its ONLY the Skull that looks kind of like a Skeleton.

I came Across this Work by Noely Ryan

I think its a BIT too much like the NewBorn but i could Imagine where the NOSE AREA is having a Snorkel/Breathing Pipe Connected to it that Connects to the Suit/Chair....  so the Suit does-not have a Helmet per-say and EVEN if we USE the other Fifield Concept that i have used in this TOPIC in the same Way.

I think either could WORK as a Alternative Space Jockey to Introduce them as a Different Taller Species.

"My character becoming a cyborg is based off of Dr. Eisenberg from the AVP2 video game, the events of AVP2/Primal Hunt is also canonical to my fanfiction"

Yeah the AVP2 Game was Good and this is the KIND of Time-Line that the AVP Movie should have been SET IN..... i do think Disney would Reboot the AVPU at some point.

When doing this  (AVP) you have the Freedom to Add/Remove some things from Canon, or Completely go and Re-Write it as a Alternative Take.

I think with the Removal of Alien 3: etc what Blomkamp was doing would be to say "hi guys lets just suppose that Ripley, Hicks and Newt all arrived Home Safe and Sound" and it was to OFFER a Alternative Path... it would NOT have been to make Alien 3 Null and Void but to just OFFER like a Alternative Future after ALIENS.  And so Fans could go and Enjoy Both Alternative Paths after ALIENS... or some could Choose to IGNORE his ALIEN V and stick with Alien 3 or Vice Versa.

The Brandywine Alien V (David Giler/Walter Hill) seemed that some MOVIES would have merely been DREAMS of Ellen Ripley... and who KNOWS to HOW FAR this would have gone... maybe it Happens Many Years after ALIEN and that all the Movies after and before ALIEN are just Dreams of Ripley... its Hard to say.

I will add that it may have been Disappointing to have NOT gone and Explored any Buildings apart from the Colossal Cathedral, there SIMPLY was No Time but we could have got some Closer Shots...

The Colossal Cathedral does have a Ancient Aesthetic to it but we have to BARE IN MIND that its like the Focal/Central Point its a Place of Great Importance like say Saint Peter's Basilica or the Pantheon in Italy, or even Hagia Sophia in Turkey for Example.

And so its Ancient and Important and still USED for Rituals/Religion etc.

We could go to the Year 2100 and the Saint Peter's Basilica will be Standing and Used, its NOT like people will be like "man this building is OLD, lets knock it down and build something Modern"

The Cathedral did have some Technology like on the Roof, its also Gigantic in Size, to the Left of the Cathedral and bit Forwards we have what looks like a Landing Platform too.  I think it would be Interesting to Explore and see the Engineers again either on other Worlds or maybe Flash Backs where we can see more of their Society and Technology and show us the Right Balance of a Ancient kind of Living with the Right Balance of Technology too.

In Star Wars we see a lot of Ancient looking Buildings/Palaces and Dress... why the Jedi and Sith seem to Wear Potato Sacks ;)  (joke) but then you also have that Technology like we see with the Storm Troopers and also Darth Vader.

I think with Prometheus we have TWO Contrasting Styles too the Elders/Sacrificial Scene and LV-223 Guys.... it seems the LV-223 could be more Military (which RS seems to Indicate) but to me their Suits seemed to be something more of a Bio-Hazard (Space Jockey) and so to LIKELY go and Offer Protection from the GOO....

The Under/Sleeper Suit seemed to ALLOW them to Connect to the Cryo-Sleep Pods but also seemed to be Fused to their Skin and seemed to ALLOW them to Breath outside on LV-223 where as in the Complex and Ships the Environment was Breathable to Humans.  And so a LOT of the more Modern and Bio-Mechanical Clothing/Suits could be Merely where it is Necessary rather than for any Day to Day, or Ritual/Cultural Reasons... and it Certainly seems that High Fashion is something the Engineers are NOT into, much like Forms of Entertainment (No 60" LED TV's and Games Consoles for them).

Its a Shame we NEVER saw much Technology of the Engineers, i would have LOVED to had seen this Orrery (even if just the Actual Projector and Hologram Display).

You could have then had David talk to Oram/Daniels more about their Colonization Mission and where they are going....  Which they would say Origae-6 in the XXX Constellation and then David could show them the ORRERY and Operate it and then Select the System and Zoom in on it....

Oram could say they are looking to Escape Earth and Start a New Eden... then David could say well it looks NOTHING like Paradise, bit Baron i suppose then Quote "there is nothing in the desert. No man needs nothing" then David could ask WHY they came here instead (Planet 4) and Oram can say because it looked more Suitable.  Then David could say YES what a Paradise this was, then say the Galaxy has Many Earth like Worlds, the Engineers have been Very Busy but are Very Protective.

Something like this in a Scene with that ORREY would have shown off the Engineers Technology, it would give a Insight to Oram that Mankind are NOT alone in the Galaxy and that Edens like Earth are Everywhere.....

A Scene like ABOVE would also be a Plot Device to HOW the Engineers could Find David.... because they could go to the ORREY and see that its been SET to take a Close Look at Origae-6.... so Returning Engineers could then be like.... WHY? Lets go Check it out... "maybe this is where those who did this to our World have gone!"

" I would have been fine with maybe twenty extra minutes,"

I think what we have to Remember is the STUDIO would like to get the Movie to be Seen by as Many as they can, and thats to Attract like NOT ONLY the Hardcore Fanbase... but the Casual Viewer and so its a Case of them thinking would the Casual Audience want to SIT through say 2.5-3 Hours?

When you make a STORY/DRAFT that would Equate to say LONGER and so would NOT FIT within say a 100 Min Run Time.... then sometimes they CUT like 20-40 Min Of Footage from what was say Intended as a 120-150 Min Story and so YEAH this can have a Effect..... some Deleted Scenes really do HELP us with the Story...

"The Engineers didn't even need to have Space-Jockey suits"

Yeah there could be Suits they can have for Certain Needs like Space Flights, we have to Assume that David and Dr Shaw had NOT Needed any Suits to CONTROL/FLY the Juggernaught.

I know that some Fans are Disappointed we NEVER had more of a Bio-Mechanical Aesthetic but as i said before if we IGNORE the Juggernaught then LV-223 was a Place that Never had a LOT of that Derelict Aesthetic either.

We do-not get to see a CLOSE LOOK at the City but its NOT ALL the Look of say Rome some 2000+ Years ago.  There is some Similarity because it would seem that the Engineers Designs had Influenced our Ancient Structures.... It would have been NICE to see some Pyramids on Planet 4.

The Engineers have a Very Ritualistic/Cultist look about their Culture, so they Build and Dress for Practicality, and so we DO-NOT see the Variation of Fashion as we do say in Modern Earth Cities.  And so its has i have said they would LIVE like say how AMISH people do... if you go to a AMISH VILLAGE you dont see much Diversity or Color with their Clothing... other Cultures are like this... (I dont Intend this to become Political) but if we look at the Variation of Dress in Afghanistan say 25+ Years ago, compared to say LAST 5.... well NOW in 10 Years maybe we can see that Country go back to where People would WEAR more Similar Clothing....

So its a Cultural thing about Modesty and Practicality, and so a Buddhist Monk has NO NEED for like Wearing Sports Clothing and NIKE! Sneakers/Trainers etc.

So the Engineers Dress similar to say Most Humans would have like say Hundreds of Years ago (500+), it would seem they may DRESS in Different Stuff for Certain Reasons..... like Military or Space Exploration.

So the Above is NOT what we Wear on a Day to Day Basis.... and so the Engineers as FAR as something more Futuristic like the LV-223 Engineers could be something they DO for like Space Travel/Military...

The Sacrificial Engineers Scene they all WORE the same kinds of Garments that we saw the Planet 4 Engineers wearing.

"Bombing worlds with Xeno-weapons is one of the things that I imagine them to do, but there could be more to the Engineers than that"

Yeah there is more to them than that.... but depends on WHAT i just dont see them being as Varied in Interests, Hobbies and Past Times as what Modern Man has.... so they would likely LIVE in more Basic Manner.

But thats NOT to say there are other Engineer Worlds and Engineers who will Dress in a Different Way, depending on what their Role is....

Some Concept Work (so seems) had a more Different Looking Engineer City but the Engineers still Dressed the same as we saw in Alien Covenant. The Concept Works for Prometheus the Engineers wore Robes in some Concepts and just Loincloth in others.... apart from the Space Jockey Suits etc.

Again there is the Potential to go to other Engineer Worlds were there could be a Different Aesthetic to their Dress and Architecture.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumALIEN TV SERIES (Ridley Scott)

"Does he care about the Engineers?"

I think he does..... the Question is would they be LINKED or make a Appearance in the TV Series?  This could be a RISK but so the same can be said about THE PLOT in General if we are going to have it SET on Earth in a Time-Line prior to say 2090

"What about a pyramid or a strange building in general? We have already seen derelicts/ empty space-ships"

With a NOT TO DISTANT FUTURE setting they its UNLIKELY it will be the Same kind of Plot of say ALIEN it could be the Xenomorph Threat could be Unearthed on Earth.... YEAH AVP again ;)

The Above is LIKELY were our Xenomorph Threat will come from..... It has that Engineer Aesthetic to it.... so its either the Inside of a Ship or a Complex... maybe it could be a Pyramid etc?

It could be Likely this is on EARTH and so its a Question of WHEN/HOW?

It looks Submerged to a Degree so i think its a Sunken Ship or Sunken Outpost.

There really is NOT a LOT that we know at the Moment.... just it seems the TV Series will touch upon the Tech Giants and Corps and how they USE others to GET what they Want...... and so we will see People from more Common or Poor Backgrounds think they are getting a OPPORTUNITY but they are going to be Merely Pawns..... so it will show Cases of the Worst of Humanity but then we will see maybe the Best of Humanity too.

It does seem it will Address A.I as a Threat.... but the we will see a Ancient Threat come into PLAY (Xenomorph?  maybe Engineers?).   But depending on the Time-Line i think this either will REBOOT or NOT be Canon (Alternative Canon) or i CANT THINK of HOW it WONT go and Conflict the Franchise.

At the Moment i am a Little Concerned.

"You can have no Xenos but have variations of it. Star Wars is about more than the Skywalkers"

Exactly ;)  I think the Prequels with Prometheus had OPENED UP the Franchise to more Possibilities its just Unfortunate that we may LIKELY never see these Explored. (inc Engineers)

"Colonists is a possibility, space-military, corporate garbage, chemistry, nukes, biological weapons, pharma-companies, space-gangsters"

I think these are more LIKELY as far as the TV Series and IF we get another Alien Movie, i think you will see Xenomorph Connections but i think other Elements above could be Fleshed Out.... i also think that A.I will be Explored more too.  Sadly more about the Engineers, what other Worlds/Races they Created, their History/Agenda and Horrors are things i am NOT sure we will see again.... NOT SOON anyway.

I think we would be more LIKELY to see some kind of Reboot/Retcon of Canon/Plot when we get our TV Series and any Movies.

If we get a COMPLETE REBOOT... as i said before all you have to KEEP is the ALIEN and the Company... you dont need same Characters, or Same Ship or Exact same Plot....  as thats just a REHASH! (Robocop)

I would be OPEN for a RE-IMAGINING though. (Planet of the Apes).

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumAlien 5 is “completely dead”

"One is a director that is tired of the monster so it's just shown fast, he is interested in David so we get scenes that are dragged out"

Yeah there was Quite a LOT to the PLOT and they would have a Run-Time to try and FIT it all in, and it seemed RS was NOT a Fan of the Monsters he wanted a BIGGER STORY to be Told and a LOT of that would Revolve through David which i know some Fans are NOT that into.

I get the Impression that RS was NOT really a FAN of making a Prometheus Sequel into a Monster Movie, it seemed Creation, Rebellion and other Themes are WHAT he wanted to Cover and it would seem the LACK of Screen Time for the Engineers is NOT really what he would have Wanted... but its a Result of the STUDIO wanting to make the Prometheus Sequel become a Trilogy Series to then Connect to ALIEN and so the Xenomorph would have to come into Play and looking at HOW you have to have the Xenomorph Creation and then HOW it gets onto LV-426 with a Time-Line where there would be NO Xenomorphs as of 2095 meant they had to Shoe-Horn a lot into the Movie, which included bringing in more HUMANS and this is HENCE why our Planet 4 was so CLOSE to Earth.

I think that many Movies have Throw Away Characters who are Required for PLOT DEVICES and to Allow Certain Part of the Plot to Unfold.  Unfortunately if you cant get Good Character Development then you just WONT CARE about the Death of Certain Characters.  When you are doing a Action/Horror then its NOT that Easy to have say 5-8 Characters you can Really Connect with. Prometheus was NOT so Bad.... but again the Characters who you could Connect with NEEDED more Screen Time and with Alien Covenant well you just could NOT go and Connect with MOST of the Characters.

Its a Problem with you have say 2-3 other Characters you Connect with (who have Less Screen Time) more than the Main 2 Characters (not Inc David/Walter).

AVPR may have not done too Good at the Box Office, but its a Shocking Bad Movie, that is something you just cant go and watch more than 2-3 Times...

"New things are welcome if you ask me"

It seemed this was what RS had in Mind before the STUDIO felt you had to have the Xenomorph, and they could have had Similar and Changed it but it seems the STUDIO felt you had to have Xenomorphs and with TRYING to do something NEW its a Case of Certain Fans will EXPECT to have Xenomorphs and for those to NOT be Changed too much......  The Studio also thinking this is WHAT the Fans want.

I Fear if we get a TV Series or Movie then the Xenomorph will be WHAT they think has to PLAY a Big Part and its a Case of IF they have New Things would those be about Engineers, Different Horrors, Different Worlds/Races?

I doubt it NOW... so it be Basically similar to Alien-Alien 4 etc but maybe they would DELVE into the Company and WHY they want the Xenomorph more.

The Xenomorph is Iconic... i just Wonder as to HOW OFTEN can you just Rinse and Repeat?

AVPU on the timeline is between 2193-2230

So many of the events from the expanded universe have happened like the aforementioned Earth War Trilogy since the prologue is heavily dependent on the Earth War Trilogy canon due to a xenomorph infestation taking place on earth.

My character becoming a cyborg is based off of Dr. Eisenberg from the AVP2 video game, the events of AVP2/Primal Hunt is also canonical to my fanfiction.

I wrote AVPU to be a unifications of all the Alien canons, I only remove certain canons if they contradict Prometheus, Alien Covenant (Novel), Alien, or Aliens. While also writing an original story around these ideas.

I know some people might be lost if they read AVPU, since I don't think all Alien fans would read the comics or play the video games.

Like MonsterZero prefers a more streamline and simplified timeline over the long history of how the alien universe developed from humble beginnings to when the xenomorph was discovered, then rediscovered, then lost to time, to resurrection of the species.

XenotarisAlien ForumThe Different ALIEN Eras

Well, BigDave, I kind of decanonize ALIEN 3 and ALIEN RESURRECTION in my fanfiction so I could have Newt and Hicks in my story. Although I canonize the unedited version of the Earth War trilogy; right now the way things turned out in AVPU, I haven't had the chance to include Newt and Hicks in my current chapters since i've been focusing on my other characters.

Although I do canonize several concepts from Alien 3 and Resurrection, just not the events of the movies themselves. With ALIEN 3 I could recanonize it but with the way this website works on original post I cannot edit the part where I said I decanozied it however I already planned a chapter with Hicks and Newt being alive on Alexandria colony.

With Alien Resurrection, well I am never going to canonize that film since I am the only person here who doesn't like Joss Weadon. So no AFTERMATH of Resurrection.

So far my stories revolves around dealing with Weyland Yutani's xenomorph and yautja experiments. Later on I will touch on the themes of the xenomorph's origins.

So far the concepts I plan on is the xenomorphs are older than David and thus an engineer creation based on the original starbeast.

Fan: "Sigourney Weaver will always be MY Ripley! Margot Robbie is a horrible choice!...I don't care how hot she is......unless they include that shuttle scene.....Hmm...that might work!!...Margot will make an excellent Ripley!!"

The casting for Ripley would be an amazing way to generate interest.....Or at least gauge it.

You mention running-time, I would have been fine with maybe twenty extra minutes, so we could have seen more of the environment and also have more character-development. If you do it, so the run-time becomes more important then you risk the movie, so it will likely become a failure, which Covenant became. Look at the box-office numbers in case you doubt if Covenant didn't do well.

Rosenthal was like most of the characters, meaningless. She was just there to make things happen. Things go to happen in a movie, and for that you need characters. They were just there to support the story, while the story should be centered around those in it. Unfortunately she was even worse executed than even Daniels.

I wonder if we will see concept art of the earlier looks of the Engineer city? That would be interesting to at least have a glimpse of what could have been. You might not want it to look like Giger, but that's no excuse to do what they did because it could be good-looking without the Giger esthetics. You mention the budget, but they could have made it look more interesting even though the budget was limited. Even though the amount of money was limited, at least they could have come up with something better.

The Engineers didn't even need to have Space-Jockey suits because I imagine that the SJ-suits are put on like clothing that war-pilots use. You could argue that it goes against the bio-mechanical thing if you imagine it like that, but it's a possibility. Bombing worlds with Xeno-weapons is one of the things that I imagine them to do, but there could be more to the Engineers than that. For example, the Orchs from the Lord of The Rings don't just only go to war killing people with clubs, right?

"The Ancient Astronaut Idea is WHAT is the Backbone of the Engineers Plot, and so its NO WONDER the City had some Aesthetic of Ancient Buildings on Earth as the Engineers had likely Taught us to Build or we have ATTEMPTED to Replicate what our Creators had Lived in."

I understand that, it still looked lame compared to what it could have been.

Why mankind looks nothing like the Engineers? Easy, they didn't feel the need for us to look exactly like them. Just because they made something inspired by them doesn't mean that they got to be like copies but have things in common.

"And so for Every Day Life for a Engineer then there is NO NEED for the suits we saw in Prometheus."

I agree, but I think that they should have looked more interesting. There are artistic choices that you do when you design a thing, so I think that they could have done better. You don't need to make them look like humans dressed in old potato bags made from cloth.

"The Flip Side of that is he seems to think the Importance is NOT the Xenomorph, and so having him Involved could mean we see the Weyland Company and A.I being involved a LOT more than the Xenomorph"

Not sure if I trust that, he mostly seems to be into androids (Covenant and Raised By Wolves) and I don't like any of them that much. If he would be involved we would see more of AI/androids, and I don't want that, at least not as the main-focus, they could be used by corporations but not be what it's about. Does he care about the Engineers? The Engineers should be brought back because I think they are needed to expand it.

"Conflict his Movies"

So it's an ego-thing? I don't trust Scott that much by now after the prequels. They should give someone else a try. Unfortunately it seems to me that he is more of a burden at this point but everything that is bad about the prequels isn't his fault.

"And that we will also come ACROSS a Engineer Ship/Complex that is somewhat Submerged."

What about a pyramid or a strange building in general? We have already seen derelicts/ empty space-ships. I would like them to try new things as long as it has a good design and makes sense to the story then why not? Don't do a lot of re-makes even if it's just parts in the story. Do new things tweak them and see how they can fit into the alien-universe, even O'Bannon and Giger started somewhere.

Time-travel is too obvious, they should do something new. There are other things that they can do to explain it, they just got to figure out smart and interesting things and not just run with what ever their first idea is that pops up in their heads.

"The Biggest Concern for me is the TIME-LINE and HOW do they NOT have this Conflict or Contradict the WHOLE FRANCHISE?"

Throw the prequels away and pretend that they never happened? I would rather see that than to continue what Covenant started.

You can have no Xenos but have variations of it. Star Wars is about more than the Skywalkers and Kill Bill has more than Thurman's character. There are different parts that you can pick out and spin in different ways. By having the Engineers, you could develop the monster, but they messed it up with the David-connection. Having it connected to the Engineers is something that I would have no problems with.

Colonists is a possibility, space-military, corporate garbage, chemistry, nukes, biological weapons, pharma-companies, space-gangsters (not Jabba the Hutt).

"You could Even  go and Explore that the Xenomorph Evolves a bit and Creates its OWN very ALIEN Technology and Ships but this would be a Aesthetically better looking Version of Starship Troopers.... i am NOT saying this Cant Work..."

Interesting, that would show that they are intelligent but don't explain too much (Aliens). No queen please that is too obvious.

"COMPLETE REBOOT"

If that's what's needed to evolve the franchise then maybe. By doing that you're not as much tied to past things but you got to get it right. Terminator 1 and 2 are good, I don't care about the rest.

"Ripley was the MAIN Character in all the Franchise the Problem with Alien R is that the other Characters just NEVER stood out..."

That has been the problem with all alien-movies after Alien 3. One movie or more they got to work otherwise we'll get disappointments like the prequels or AR. You mention Fury 161, they could do something about corporations and privatized police or military. I would like to see more about the Engineers and not just as pissed off giants. Keep the Engineers and make them interesting, that could become something good.

I would like to see something different rather than seeing a Xeno for the 100th time, or another android-movie. Please no more alien-queens because they are done. Maybe you can tie it to climate change, it could work if they get it right and get a good story because that theme is important. Alien Covenant was about a mad robot the way it came off on the screen and yes it was about more than that but that is how I think of it when I see the movie.

Reply
Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Covenant ForumAlien 5 is “completely dead”

I'm not very sad if we won’t see a continuation of the prequels, since they have already made a mess of them. A TV-series would be preferred for now since I doubt that they feel like continuing on the big screen at least with the prequels.

Nothing is better than more of something that has the quality of the prequels or AR. There has got to be something better than what we've had since at least 1997.

AC turned out the way it did because of different things I can imagine. One is a director that is tired of the monster so it's just shown fast, he is interested in David so we get scenes that are dragged out and has a focus that I'm not in it for. Unfortunately I guess that Scott just threw the monsters in there without even caring that much about them. Fox probably thought that all we wanted was creatures but no there need to be more than that. What was new and interesting (the Engineers) was pushed aside and they didn't get a writer that could do characters. You just can't blame only Blomkamp for what Covenant became.

"Oram go off to look for Rosenthal"

Oram was alright but could have been better written, Rosenthal was meaningless like most of the characters because she had no personality. I don't blame the actors I guess that they need better writers that can write characters so we don't get what we have been given in the prequels.

"After AVPR had Bombed a bit"

A bit? That's to put it mildly, AVPR is one of the worst movies that I've seen ever.

Maybe another Alien-movie could work but then I don't think that it should have a connection to what we've seen this far. By doing that they could come up with new things and not be tied to what we've seen before. I would like to see a connection between the Engineers or something related to them given that you show the connection. New things are welcome if you ask me.

Not too excited about this to be honest. It has always been about the human journey to me and even though AVP (2004) was alright as entertainment, most of the human characters weren't that good. Unfortunately, if we'll get another AVP I guess that it won't be that great unless they have really learned what didn't work with the two previous movies. The first one was popcorn entertainment, watchable but not very good, but the second one was vomit. Make it a one-off, that could work.

It seems to me that they need a decent script, characters that we care about (more than 2-3) and fairly good actors for it to work. Focus on the human journey, the monsters are there to support it. The prequels have shown us how to not make things.

Have it on some unknown planet, so it adds to the mystery. Usually designing the planets isn't the problem, the problem this far seems to be the characters, and you need a good story. If you get those two things right you seem more likely to get a good result and also don't cut character-scenes just for run-time because that trashes it (prequels).

I think they could gone and MADE a ALIEN V if they SET it after Alien Resurrection.

I had came up with a Few Ideas before.... where you can even have Ripley 8 and to get away with the Age Difference well you have some CGI Overlay with Ripley 8 but then you show her Becoming Ill and Fighting with her Inner Humanity and Xenomorph Need to Survive.....

Call could suggest she knows of People who can HELP HER...

So she is taken to a Lair and is Placed on a Table or Cryo-Pod, but we Flash Forwards and Ripley 8 is starting to Age, her Skin becoming Grey/Leathery like what was Happening to Holloway.

Call can then Inform her that they could-not HELP her... so Ripley leaves and she is NOW Aging Fast, (so you dont have to USE any Make Up, well just to change her Skin Tone).

The Autons have come up with a DRUG that can Suppress her Aging Rate...

But latter Ripley 8 Discovers the TRUTH that the Autons have a CULT and maybe they Worship David in Reality........... they REALLY have been using Ripley 8 to Obtain her DNA and Create some Species... Their Agenda was for CALL to Obtain a Specimen and Destroy the Auriga..... so the Autons can Create something to AID them in World Domination.

*A more Humanoid Super-Human like Ripley 8 but these START to De-Age Quickly and then DIE...

*A Hybrid Xenomorph Creature with a New Way to Procreate.

After the Discovery.... Call tries to GIVE a Good Reason for it.... but Ripley says she CANT let them USE the DNA of the Xenomorph....

Call threatens to Destroy the Vials of Drug that can SLOW DOWN the Rate that Ripley is DYING.....   then she Destroys them.... Ripley becomes ANGRY and her Xeno-DNA starts to take Over.... from her Frail getting Older Body she begins to EVOLVE into more Xeno-DNA.

So we see Ripley 8 go and Mutate/Evolve into a Hybrid and this Hybrid gives her the Strength to Thwart the Plans of the AUTON CULT.....

She is able to CONTROL the Hybrid Xenomorphs and after a BATTLE and Victory we see that Ripley 8 knows she cant ALLOW them to Survive and Destroys them.

She then Struggles with her Humanity as she Wrestled with the Decision to KILL the Hybrids.... Fearing that her Humanity is going away... she then SACRIFICES herself....... Destroys herself.....

Blomkamp has been talking to other newspapers recently.

In the above article, he theorises that Ridley Scott saw "Chappie" and that nailed the coffin shut as far as Alien 5 under his stewardship was concerned. Also, he never spoke to Ridley again.

It's not a bad theory. Everyone loved District 9, but his follow-up movies Elysium and Chappie were both samey samey. I was horrified at the prospect of Alien 5 looking anything like any of those three movies.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumThe Engineers (Sub Creation)

HERE is a Interview that was done for AVPGalaxy were they Interview some of the Actors who Played some of the Engineers in Alien Covenant.

"Scott James –  The prosthetics were full face pieces including pieces around our eyes and the bridge of the nose. There was also extensive make-up over the whole face and feet"

This Indicates it was NOT just a Quick Paint Job and so to APPLY say Prosthetics more Defined like in Prometheus and add a more Glossy Paint would NOT have Cost them Considerably more Time and Money.  And so it seems they was INTENDED to look how they did.

"Billy Mansell – Now this is a good question! We worked with second unit that day and the second unit director wasn’t giving much away to what we really where but they did confirm we are Engineers! And the costume designer called us all “her Engineers” so we do know we are 100% Engineers but I do believe our origins is something Mr Scott is holding close to his chest… what I will say there was speculation that the Prometheus Engineers where more like a military type rather than our more civilian look I think all will be revealed if Sir Ridley gets his way and films the next one."

Confirming the Planet 4 guys were Engineers, the Civilization Kind which Ridley Scott had also Confirmed.

"Billy Mansell – It was never discussed why! Like I said in an earlier question this is something Ridley and crew never spoke about but I am in the belief that Mr Whytes character was more of a military type where my character was more civilian type! Yeah the eyes and skin are different but who’s to say it’s because the Ian whyte type is enhanced genetically for space exploration and combat? Who knows?"

Speculating that the LV-223 Engineers could be Genetically Engineered/Enhanced.  And i do think THIS is what Ridley Scott was going for.

Some of Davids Sketches showed Engineers who some appeared more like the Planet 4 guys and some more like the Prometheus guys but on Planet 4 some of them had more Similar look to Prometheus as far as Bone Structure etc and as Ridley Scott had said... there could be some Diversity in Appearance of  the Engineers just as there is with HUMANS.

"I'm assuming Earth is a big mess"

Certainly is................. This would Indicate that some Apocalyptic Event has taken Place on Earth, well at least some of the Earth.  This looks like the Aftermath of Nuclear War.

And looking into the Background for Call we can Assume we have Synthetics having a Dominant Role on Earth, even Sub-Creating the Autons and so its maybe NOT just a Case of Human vs Human.... the World could have Faced Chaos between Humans and their Creations.

In the AFTERMATH of such a Event we could see a LOT of the Worlds Technology gone and we have a Very Mad Max kind of World.....  But some will have a Abundance of Technology we know that Mankind would have Colonized other Worlds and had Outposts and Stations.

It could be the USM Auriga was USED to Obtain the Xenomorph to maybe USE as a Weapon to Turn the Tide of War on Earth, well to Gain the USM and their Benefactors some CONTROL back on Earth.

So for a LOT of People on Earth then getting any kind of Technology and Advanced Weaponry could be Difficult.  You could have a lot of Scavengers on the Earth trying to make ENDS meet.

I think we haven't fully seen the capabilities of the xenomorphs yet, in my fanfiction the AVPU I use the alternate canon of David merely creating a secondary xenomorph species while the xenomorphs encountered in Alien and Aliens are from the Engineers. I wrote in the xenomorphs ability to evolve over time and I wrote the reason why the xenomorphs haven't been hunted to extinction is because as of right now its more effective and less expensive to avoid xenomorph inhabited worlds.

so Sorry if this is OFF TOPIC...

There could be Parts of the Time-Line where some Events have Happened that we just have NOT seen on Screen.

Was the Nostromo the FIRST of any Humans sent to the Derelict?  Could that HOLE had been from After the Space Jockey Event?   But with the AC Plot then the Time-Line from when the Derelict is on LV-426 until the Nostromo is SHORT but this does-not mean that Humans had NOT been on the Derelict prior to ALIEN.

Post ALIEN...... then in Aliens DC we see the Derelict has a HOLE where there was NONE in ALIEN and this HOLE looks like something has Exploded from the INSIDE.  Could this be Evidence that someone had GONE BACK to the Derelict after the Nostromo Mission?

But back to the OT...

I do think if we had another Movie or TV Series then Ideally i think Exploring between 2100-2250 would be the Ideal Time-Line to do so.  But saying that looking at the Military Technology of 2380 it seems that NOT a LOT had Advanced since ALIENS.  But saying that with AC it seemed NOT a LOT as FAR as Weaponry has Advanced for like 100 Years.

I Guess if a TOOL does it Job then it does-not Need to be Changed... The Sword, and Knives (for all Purposes) have NOT really Advanced much for Hundreds of Years....

so with Weaponry as FAR as Guns then maybe Materials/Weight, and Speed/Number of Rounds you can Fire/Hold would be all the  Improvements you would Require.... plus the Ammo being made from Stronger/Penetrating Materials and maybe being Explosive Rounds.

Maybe it would be COOL to see Laser Guns and the like... but you have to think in Practical Terms... The amount of Energy thats Needed to make a Laser be able to CUT through Armour and the like for the USE as a Portable Weapon is Currently HUGE... and there would  be NO-WAY it would be Small Enough to be used as a Assault Weapon.

And so when we look at say Star Wars Blasters....  the Energy/Technology to allow a Riffle/Pistol to Produce a Energy Blast like that would be Something that maybe in Context to the Alien Franchise is just something that cant be MADE PORTABLE.

And so when we Consider say the Marine Pulse Riffle compared to Storm Trooper Blaster is their a Massive Difference in their Ability to Kill a Human even ONE with some Armour like a Storm Trooper Suit?

so its Logical that Laser/Blaster like Energy Weapons are Restricted to Fighter Ships, Tanks and the like.... as its coming up with the WAY to make the Technology that can Produce that Energy fit into something like a Pistol and Riffle.  So i think the ALIEN Franchise is Quite Realistic as FAR as Portable Weapons Systems.

"I'm starting to be in favor of a reboot / reimagining"

If they do go this ROUTE.... then you can Change a lot, you dont have to go and have Ripley, or the Ship being Called the Nostromo etc.....

You keep the Xenomorph and can Change it a bit..

You can maybe keep the Juggernaught/Derelict Ship Aesthetic or Change it bit.

Maybe you can KEEP the Weyland-Yutani Company and give some History to that and Change that a bit.   But i dont think you have to go and Basically make ALIEN in a like for like by just Changing a Few things... you can Basically START with something Different if your going to do a Reboot.

I think with the ALIEN Time-Line as FAR as the Movies it does Raise some Questions and Points...

Prior to the Prequels we have to ASK!

*How did Special Order-937 come to be?  How much did W-Y know about those Eggs before the Nostromo was sent to LV-426.

*Why after Failing to Obtain a Specimen via the Nostromo did the Company seem to NOT be Interested in going back, were they aware of the Derelict/Special Order-937 when they was Setting Up the Outpost of Hadleys Hope?

*Why was the Company Obsessed trying to get Ripley?  Is SHE the ONLY last Source for a Xenomorph?

And so when we get to ALIEN Resurrection you would think that by Virtue of them trying to Obtain the Xenomorph via Ripleys DNA, then you have to ASSUME that there was NO-WHERE else to Obtain a Specimen.

A Simple Answer would have to be that the Company were NOT that 100% Sure of what was on LV-426, and after the Failure of Special Order-937 they just Deemed it of being NOT that Important......    Sometime latter maybe Volcanic Activity and Storms had Hidden the Derelict from being Detected by those who would be Surveying the Moon for Colonization.

The Special Order-937 something that was Hidden/Covered up and Forgotten.  As it would seem Bizarre to just LOOSE Interest in the Specimen, then some 35 Years the Company goes to Build a Outpost and Attempt to Terra-Form LV-426.

After the Destruction of Hadleys Hope then the Derelict is Rendered Useless or Considered to be GONE....  Hence that after  the Death of the Runner and Sacrifice of Ripley in Alien 3 on Fury 161 this meant the END of the Xenomorph.

Until 200 Years latter the USM corp begin to Obtain a Specimen via Cloning Ripley from her DNA.

And so THIS meant there was NO real Loose Ends.... only things to Question would be as to HOW/WHEN did they Discover that there was a Specimen of Importance on LV-426 and to WHY they Never had Obtained any after the Events of the Nostromo Mission to LV-426.

But this does mean NOT much Scope to another ALIEN MOVIE between ALIEN and ALIEN R.....  However this does-not mean you could NOT go and Explore such a thing.... Alien Isolation did as such and its a CASE of being Careful to NOT go and Conflict the Franchise and Tie-Up Loose Ends... (from things left after you Explore another Avenue to the Xenomorph say prior to 2179 and after).

The Prequels had Expanded the Universe but by doing so it Creates many more Loose Ends and Questions... Especially WHY go and Pursue LV-426 and Ripley for the Xenomorph and Related.

This is WHY i am Concerned about the TV Series its Screaming either Reboot or Totally Conflict the Franchise.

I think that YES the Xenomorph is a Hostile and Dangerous Foe... what i mean by Canon Fodder is they was shown to NOT be that Tough to Deal with, if you have the Right Weaponry.  And Especially if they are Engaged in OPEN WARFARE as in Open Ground....  but the same can be said for Fighting Lions, if your Outnumbered 5-1 by Lions your NOT going to Survive... Unless you have Space/Distance and Firepower then they Easy Pickings.

AVPR made them (Xenomorph) even more of a Easy Pickings....

The Xenomorph is best USED from the Dark and Confined Spaces, and it Worked with the First AVP.... and with ALIENS there was scenes of them using the Structure of the Hadleys Hope Station to their Advantage.

So i think it Depends on how you Show the Xenomorph Threat, if NOT done right then you could END UP with like Starship Troopers.

"David 8 is a great link to the past, easy to tie the series together"

I think that YEAH he could be the Connective Tissue of the Franchise as the Prequels have indicated he is the ONE who has Instigated the Xenomorph, it is LIKELY he is behind Special Order-937.  And there is a Chance that RS would have shown us that DAVIDS A.I is Uploaded to the Weyland-Yutani Systems and so David could be the ONE who is Pulling the Strings.

But its a case of NOT everyone would be Pleased with the Franchise having a HIGH EMPHASIS on David as FAR as him being a Pivotal Role to the Overall Plot/Threat.

I think a KEY thing with doing another ALIEN Movie would be (same maybe applies to TV Series if trying to be Canon) is that you have to TRY and NOT go and Contradict/Conflict the other Movies or leaving Loose Ends/Plot Holes.

This does-not APPLY if your going to Reboot the Franchise though.

BigDaveAlien: Romulus 2 NewsNew Alien vs. Predator movie reboot reportedly in development at Disney!

I think if its True then its Hard to Judge at the Moment it would Depend on the BUDGET as to WHO you can Cast.

A Cross-Over done right could MAKE them Money i think it has more Chance than a ALIEN Movie unless they will Re-Cast Miss Weaver but that doe-not mean you Guaranteed a Good Movie.

Because with the ALIEN Franchise its been so Fractured with what People want to see and HOW they Felt about the Prequels and even Last ALIEN Movies that to MAKE a ALIEN Movie that would get the Majority of ALIEN Fans go like "Yeah i Definitely going to see that"

There is a Risk that you make more of a Mockery of the Xenomorph as FAR as being that THREAT that it was.

But the same would be said IF we had another ALIENS like Fragfest... with Marines/Mercenaries kicking Xeno-Butt.....  more so If a Old Age Ripley returns to kick Xeno-Butt.

It's a daft timeline.

Billions of humans with the ability to travel FTL. The galaxy should be well colonized by the year 2150. ANY Engineers / Alien races should be well known by this time. Xeno's would be extinct...nuked from above....or drone hunted to oblivion. Hunting expeditions for sport perhaps?

Probes / drones would have scoured and returned 3D 32K glyph video of every meter of every planet / moon in every star system within a thousand light years of Earth.

You could sit on a couch on Earth while a probe shows you everything on any planet in the galaxy in Realtime.

The telescope tech by then will mean there is no planet or moon you could hide from. The human race will find you!

The second you add FTL and anti-gravity to your universe destroys sense of distance, time, scale.

Going hard science would make the long timeline work.
