The Sand Kings were actually in three episodes of the Outer Limits in the mid to late 90's....and they were all very good episodes.....

If you look at other media of the Ampules you can see rock and gravel on others and around their bases. In fact some larger pieces of rock are leaning against the side of the Ampules almost as if they grew out of the ground....

There's nothing new under the sun so it wouldn't surprise me if we notice the ideas in this movie can be found somewhere else. I mean of all the speculating we have been doing nothing is really new. Someone can always seem to cite a movie , book, comic, or TV show that has a similar premise.

Ah, the Xenopedia.
Speaking of, sorta, I'm surprised no ARGs, viral campaigns or fake websites have popped up yet. Even though neither JJ Abrams or Trent Reznor are involved, Prometheus would be perfect for a campaign like Cloverfield or Year Zero to keep fans hungry.

Maybe the goo or whatever has infected him is devolving him into a primitive subject. Or maybe it affects the crew in different forms...after all there is a large Prometheus crew, bigger than that of the Nostromo...
ReplyMr.JPrometheus Forumobvious point you guys are possibly missingFeb 27, 2012
I believe what Shaw gives birth to might be different, perhaps the starting point that leads to the creation of the Egg, face hugger. In Alien, it took on the form of Kane and the Space Jockey, according to Scott and the book, Alien: Vault. I guess we are going to see it in the original form or the form after it has infected the Space Jockey's..coming out big and nasty...
ReplyMr.JPrometheus Forumflame throwerFeb 27, 2012
He perhaps has killed some of the crew or infected...i do not think that they will be thinking in human terms at this point, mostly just survive.

ReplyMr.JPrometheus Forumflame throwerFeb 27, 2012
Well, like most, when you want to stop an infection, i.e: the "Thing"...they used fire. I guess they are doing the same thing, probably unaware of his blood change, if he has any changes to blood...

Guys...no sense arguing and debating where it came from. It was from the Plot Hole Abyss...where things happen without an explanation. It will be one of those mysteries until someone explains it but it has all been forgotten now....a lesson for writers every where and film makers...always back up what you shoot and do your best to explain it or you will lose the reader or audience faster than Vanilla Ice lost his career. =)

...the origion of the face hugger? perhaps they find eggs on lvj maybe thats why the jockeys are there to collect alien eggs that are growing in some cavern or temple
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumFacehuggers ? Feb 27, 2012
In fact Ridley Scott stated that Prometheus we are moving backwards and not forward (even if it's a prequel to "Alien the eighth passenger"). I think we'll see a whole new monster that give rise to the facehugger or perhaps the pre-facehugger.

ReplyBsBoyAlien Movies ForumThat Egg in Alien 3Feb 27, 2012
OK, I don't know if this has already been discussed here, but the the whole egg on the Sulaco thing was set up at the end of Aliens. If you watch Aliens to the very end of the credits, James Cameron put a little audio suprise at the end of the movie. Listen carefully and you will hear the sound of an egg opening and a face-hugger emerging. Mr. Cameron had intended to film a sequel to Aliens, and this was how he set it up. I am sure that had his sequel been made, he had already figured out a plot device to explain this little suprise at the end of Aliens.

Although who knows, maybe rescue the life cycle of the original Alien, 1979, where victims are brought into a cocoon that turn into eggs.
While on the other hand maybe the parasite's small trailer will be filtering something like a facehugger or Pre-Chestburster ... but surely will have more connection with the ampoules, the container of that greenish-yellow liquid, the liquid may has its own life as a parasite (ok sounds pretty silly but who knows) that seeps into the skin or helmets with an agility sinister and very likely that this greenish liquid substance is the true biological weapons, and monsters resulting single or concecuencia impact of this weapon.

I recall when the film was first mentioned and various interviews took place (this is back before it was even titled "PROMETHEUS" I seem to recall Ridley Scott... or was it Damon Lindelof... One of the two, mentioned how this film will focus more on the origin of the "facehugger", not the "Alien" itself we're used to seeing.
I'm sure we'll see something of the sort, just not what we're used to seeing.
Who knows, the last 8 minutes could end with the Engineer getting into the pilot's chair seen in the trailer, ready to attack Earth/wherever and the end of the film cuts off with a Facehugger latching onto the Engineer's face. It would tie into Alien and could lead into a Prometheus sequel. But who knows.

Well, in all honesty I planned to implement a timer when I first started this site a year ago. My original plan was to release the timer a month before the film's release, but then a bunch of the members here wanted a timer up ASAP. So I added it.
But it's definitely a good point. Timers area great way to build hype and Dan is definitely on the right track. If anything I would need some extra help with Javascript like I mentioned. HTML and CSS (versions 5 and 3) along with PHP I'm fine with myself at the moment.

I'm keen to know if the rapid growth and acidic blood will be at least hinted at (if the film wants to distance itself from Alien strictly). I think there
may be an 'essence' like airborne mist that causes all the mayhem in Prometheus. It'll be fascinating to see something along the lines of a Giger serpent as a progenitor, and not a recognisable humanoid shaped creature. Question is, where will everything combine, confuse and tie in to create a Giger apparition? Cannot wait to see the 'Gods'.
I hope it raises more tantalising questions.

What a fascinating concept skyguy. Omni was certainly a good read
and this sort of truly alien concept is the kind I want to see in Prometheus.
I love those sci-fi mags from the late 70s early 80s like 'Future Life'
'Starlog' etc. which had all sorts of wierd imagery and stories from
the likes of Manara and Moebius and stuff like Liberatore and Tamburini's
'Ranxerox' for Heavy Metal magazine. Wonderful stuff!

Hello Dan,
Thanks for offering services, currently its just me working on the site, I've developed the software, design, etc...
Currently I'm not looking for any additional help for back-end work, mainly just moderators for the forum on the front-end.
But I will keep this in mind if I ever wish to expand certain areas of the site or add some new features. If you have any experience working with Javascript or JQuery, that would help greatly.
Send me a PM and we can discuss things further. Thanks!

but doesn't IMAX do some conversion process it does to convert films not shot originally with IMAX cameras -- in fact most are not shot with IMAX aspect ratio but converted somehow. Now you have me wondering. I guess I cant think of a Ridley Scott film in IMAX other then the short-re-release of Gladiators. Too bad, because this Prometheus film would seem to really kill in IMAX
Replyskyguy1054Prometheus ForumProgenitor (your thoughts) Feb 27, 2012
The leaked script (debunked?) we saw a year or so ago with the two guys working for the SJ-like "Growers made reference to what sounded like miniature aliens. Not small like ants but small enough to swarm, that could be customized for different environments. . . . OR . . .
On an entirely different tangent. What if (big one here - stay with me) the entire cave/egg chamber explored by Kane was once itself alive? Ridley once expressed his fascination, in a bonus feature somewhere, with old Oxford Scientific footage of a tiny wasp, that would detect movement of a grub (larva) inches below the bark of a tree. It would produce a probiscis several times its own body length and drill down below the surface to implant its seed inside the grub which would then become a host. The surface of LV426 was designed to appear organic (or was at least built to resemble a landscape of massive bones and body parts). So, what if this is what happens when the small world ITSELF is "impregnated?" Or am I letting my imagination get too epic in scale?

This is interesting and makes me ponder whether or not the cocooned man will actually be a transformation stage of one of the monsters.........
